Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Nowt wrong with that Blue, I'd love a garage and a lathe to muck around with, my grandad was a tinkerer always building something.
My Grandad was a tinkerer too, his garage/workshop was full of old car parts, nuts, bolts, assorted bits of old metal and a wonderful smell of oil and Swarfega. This is a picture Nan and Grandad with his “contraption “ made from the aforementioned bits of old metal.8282EA66-8F2C-49D9-A157-D4E0F9633FA7.webp

Brilliant, my Grandad was always building things for his house, he only had a little shed, which he built himself in his little yard, I wish I'd picked a few pointers up off him when I was younger. I quite fancied being a fabricator as an adult but that ship sailed, especially now with my issues.

Well there's been a few developments over the last few days regarding my trip to the Channel isles. Due to the weather forecast for the channel crossing, the only window they have for the crossing is Thursday (tomorrow). Plus, we've discovered that there are no direct flights from Newquay to anywhere in the Islands. The routes have not been taken up by any alternative airline since Flybe went bust. So I'm now going to travel with their daughter Sam, and the two Norfolk terriors, Maisie and Chelsea. The upshot is that there won't really be room for all of us to sleep on the boat. not comfortably anyway, so I'll need to stay in a hotel. I'm actually fine with this as I've become accustomed to my comforts.

Sam arrived back in Cornwall yesterday and we're going to get the ferry from Poole to Guernsey on Sunday morning, so I could be in the middle of the English Channel when we're fighting for our Premier survival. The plan is to spend 3 days in Guernsey, and then sail the boat over to jersey on Wednesday and spend 4 days there, returning the following Sunday. I'm really looking forward to it.

I've also been speaking to my mate about joining him and my other mate in Edinburgh at the end of June for a couple of days to attend Musselburgh races. I'll then travel back with them to Liverpool for a few days to catch up with other mates and family. I can fly to Edinburgh from Newquay and get a return from Manchester. The hotels in Edinburgh are a bit pricey so I'm a bit scared this will put them off.

Wow. Your granddad was George Stephenson?

Actually, I'm not sure whether I'm more impressed by what your old granddad made or the fact that they had colour photography back then.lol

Middle of the English Channel? The lengths some people will go to to avoid the football lol Seriously though I hope you have great time.

Lovely. I'm sure you will have a great time. Mr F and I were thinking about a trip to Musselburgh. We might see you there!

Hopefully Sunday will be irrelevant and we've already ensured survival.
