Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Cal used to always buy stuff that needed assembling, but I just can't be arsed with it. So Cal would always shame me into it by starting it first, knowing that I would have to take over. Usually the first I knew about it was when when I heard banging then swearing from the next room.

Used to hate those things. If there was something you could do back to front I invariably did, and would often have to dismantle the whole thing and start again.lol
The way I look at it, I am supporting the local economy as the lad in the shop building it was hired for that purpose ?

The closest me and Mr F have ever come to blows is over flat pack furniture assembly! ? ?
Tell me about it.

The worst time was when Cal bought one of these "easy assemble" one person tents to use at the beach. I can sit in the sun all day but Cal liked a bit of shade. We were at Holywell Beach in North Cornwall (the one they always use in Poldark) and it's a fair walk to the beach over sand dunes from the car park. I made Cal carry the tent herself because I was already carrying two folding chairs, a beach mat, two large beach towels, and 2 beach bags full of various garments (I told you Cal doesn't travel lightly). That was my first mistake of the day. My second was to go for a swim whilst Cal was attempting to assemble the "easy assemble" tent. My third was to laugh when I came back from the swim seeing that she was in a right mess with her attempts to assemble said tent. My fourth mistake was not realising that her frustration had developed into a full scale cob on, and that anger was now directed at me. It took about 4 hours of apologising before she calmed down.

In the meantime I also attempted to assemble this thing but just couldn't work it out. The instructions were next to useless and it didn't help that they kept blowing away in the wind and I was chasing it all over the place. When the tide is out, which it was that day, this beach goes on forever. To top it all, when we came to pack it away the pieces wouldn't all fit into the bloody bag that came with it. We were able to have a good laugh about it afterwards, the fact that I couldn't assemble it either probably helped in that regard. When we returned home the tent went into the garage, never to be seen again until we had a sort out about 3 years later. lol

Love it! Our worst was trying to assemble a cabin style bed we bought for one of the kids. You know the sort, bed on top raised up and all sorts of cupboards underneath. OMG! It was a nightmare, we couldn't work out how the little ladder went on. We hadn't realised the lovely mattress on the display model was NOT included so had to go and buy one. We were also being "helped" by a curious 4 year old who was very excited about his new bed. We were doing that arguing where you just hiss at each other so child couldn't hear the proliferation of F words being flung about!

Weighed myself this morning. Only lost a pound or 2 since last month, but still heading in the right direction and, more importantly, not putting it back on. I can also feel the muscles in my arms and legs firming up so and generally feel fitter, so still quite chuffed with myself despite the slow down in weight loss.
Awesome. My weight loss is slow but steady. The gym is hugely helping though. Definitely toning up. Things are fitting me better. I've got a pair of jeans that I couldn't get past my knees a few months ago. Tried them on last week and got them over the backside. They still won't zip up but it's progress!

Hi everyone.

Waiting at Skiathos Airport for the return flight which fingers crossed looks to be on time.

Can't say I'm looking forward to our must win game tomorrow.

Lots of gardening, housework and washing to catch up with I the next couple of days.

See you tomorrow.
Have a good flight, is Skiathos the one with the incredibly short runway or is the Zakynthos?

Fun fact...my bedside cabinet is over 30 years old now and was a flatpack from MFI

Safe journey home. Do the planes still have to stop at Thessalonika to get fuel? Last time I was there they did - runway too short to take off with a full load of fuel!

….Mrs Eggs filling our suitcases now for our flight home tomorrow lunchtime from Thessalonika. My son tells me our road is full of red banners, dreading that sight for the next few weeks.
