This week will determine if Europe is a possibility for us.

Very good results.
Only takes a couple of results for Villa to get back in the mix, but 4 points off us now, win tomorrow and even further.
Think that my have just ended Villa outside chance. Leaves them on the same number of games as us. Chance to move within 4 points of Leicester

OK so the dream scenario didn't quite work out, but we've got to be VERY happy with tonight's results.
Big game tomorrow. NEA about performance, just do whatever's needed to ensure the 3 points Everton .
If we don't score goals after the end of 60 pass matrixes I doubt I will enjoy our hollow victory.

When was the last time we were 4th this far into the season? Can’t remember any time we’ve spent there since 04/05

That Arsenal game under Martinez only got us a point behind Arsenal, but can’t remember if the Sunderland game the following week took us over

There's a 1/3 of the season to go yet , so no this week wont determine wether we get Europe any more than any other week.
Great that we are in a position to challenge for it , but theres a long way to go.
And West Brom isnt a given either as some think.
It won’t determine it completely obviously, but this week could be massive. If we win tomorrow then there’s no getting round the fact that we’re going to be 5/6 points better off than a couple of rivals in the space of a couple of days. We’d still have to see it through, but it would be a huge step in the right direction.

I think we were ahead of them at one point late on, then lost a couple to fall off the pace. But it's been some time, and I would have to look it up to be certain.

We did get a series of excellent results today - United had the power outage that I mentioned in another thread, Leicester ceded points, and Villa's hopes for anything above Europa took a massive blow.

It will be interesting to see how we manage the international break with several of our rivals hinting strongly that they will prohibit South American and Portuguese players from leaving due to the mandatory 10 day isolation period after travel to those countries. I can't see FIFA doing it, but in my opinion those fixtures will be significantly impacted competitively and should be postponed.

I doubt there is any space in the calendar for them to postpone a whole round of international fixtures

Agreed.....not season defining , but a massive step in the right direction.

They could make space, but it would require coordination with a host of domestic leagues or continental confederations. Which is why they likely won't do it.

The most straightforward solution would be to swap a round of friendlies with the current World Cup qualifiers. That's a lot easier to do in an environment where ticket impacts are minimal than it would be under ordinary circumstances.

Arsenal won about 8 on the bounce after we beat them in that game.
