Sell to Buy

We’ve massively overspent under Moshiri, I think we have a net spend of around £150+ million since he came in.

We also have plans to build a new stadium that would cost us many millions.

I doubt many teams in world football have invested more in the last 3 years, and certainly no teams without Champions League football have spent as much money as we have.

We have a bloated squad with too many players who are past their prime earning far more than they offer. Not many clubs are interested in investing millions of pounds into ageing, mediocre (at best) footballers who are on the biggest contracts they’re ever going to get.

It’s massively naive for people to be concerned with us now operating a sell to buy policy. It’s the smart thing to do at this point in time given the circumstances.

Every club does it, if we sold vlasic, and only signed Gomes I would say we’re skint, I’m sure we will get rid of the high earners and then that’s the wages to get signings in.

So Vlasic is out the door, are we operating a sell to buy policy as has been mentioned elsewhere and do you now expect to see a signing? Those still sceptical of Moshiri suggest that's exactly how this summer will go, others suggest we need to trim the wage bill before incoming signings because of FFP.

Is it coincidence that Vlasic leaves as the Gomes deal looks likely to be completed? What are your thoughts? *Waits for Eggs to criticise existence of thread or subject matter

Sell to buy? Quite right.
Mr Moshri wasted over 200M in the Koeman/Sam years.

2 or 3 good signings and a whole lot of money down the drain.

Sell. Not just to buy, but because many of them are not good enough.

Yes.

The policy of selling players we don’t want and buying players we do want is surely a great policy. If it helps to balance the books so be it.At least we are not selling the players the manager wants to keep. That is the difference between now and previous regimes.
