They first made contact in January 2017 mate.

VVD turned down City to join them. He wanted Liverpool. Not a chance we were getting him.

Tierney is still a realistic option, but would cost a lot.
Koeman could have got him.
They got on really well down here.

As for Tierney costing a lot, I don't even know what 'a lot' is anymore mate to be honest.

So. Your first post then...??

I mean, we haven't won anything in 20odd years, except for those in the u23s last year, so should we get rid of the entire squad? How long has Seamus been here, shall we get rid of him? Thank god we got rid of Lukaku, 3/4 years here and never won anything!
And people wonder why we’re unsuccessful with fans like you.

My god, we are only ever happy when we are picking the scab off a wound! For years he was the best defender at the club, never been a good Captain, but that is more down to the managers for picking him. He is now on a downward slope, but last season, we only ever looked anything close to being solid when he was at the back. I agree he needs to go, but crucifying him is just nonsensical.

There are far more worthy of that level of vitriol than Jagielka!

He might get a start for somebody like Sunderland or Cambridge United, but for him to still be around our squad is outrageous. Same can be said for Williams, although he's actually even worse than Jagielka. Keane is probably A Championship player, but no way we ever be able to get rid of him.

The type of fan that accepts mediocrity.

Haha, you have know idea what I accept, other than this: if we were to get rid of all the 'mediocre' players in our squad we would need to buy most of a new defense for starters! That's not realistic, so some players will have to remain as squad players. Even still they don't need or deserve 'booting' out of the club.

Jags is still proberly our fastest cb after holgate ... if he would stay as club captain give seamus the armband and he can be around 4th choice then i'd be happy for him to stay as he can still fill in and be solid

still been a model professional in his application

Buying a new defence isn’t realistic? I’d say it is. In fact, I think Brands and Silva think it is realistic, too.

I don’t care if millionaires get their feelings hurt. As Brands says, some players have no prospects here and the conversations, which won’t be nice, need to happen.

“(Finishing eighth) is a positive. At one point it was looking a bit hairy but we managed to turn it around. Eighth from where we were is not the worst position to finish in."

No it isn’t solely down to him, but he’s been a major part of it. He’s a coward of a captain and hasn’t won anything at the club in over a decade. Should be nowhere near the team with that record.

Hopefully Brands sticks to his word and players with no prospects, of which Jagielka should be one, are booted out of the club.

Harsh words but im in agreement that he has captained a spinless team that has collapsed ime and time again. Nowhere near captain mayerial. Also finished as a top player. And has been for 3 years. Has the odd good performance but its no wonder we struggle if he is a starter and the best of a woeful defense.

There always comes a time when a player needs to move on or be moved on.

I guarrantee you that Keane beats all of them in a race. Unfortunately that doesn't translate to on field success.

Jags reactions are slow, he's easily pushed around, he cannot play a ball well enough at this point to play in Silva's build from the back 4 tactic. He was really good at one point, but there is simply a time to go. Now is it. New captain, new attitude.

I don't think buying 3 first team defenders is, not when our squad is too big already, and we have other positions that need filling, is. If you do then fair enough, but we still need backups and squad fillers.

A) What has how much money they've got got to do with feelings?
B) It's not about the money anyway. He's been a major part of our club for ~10 years. I'm not opposed to getting rid of him necessarily, but there's a correct way to go about doing things, and we should always stick to that, no matter our financial situation.
