Don't mind you enquiring at all mate- what this place is for. Very open to you thinking i'm a lunatic too!

Purely in my opinion, there is very little subtlety in our midfield. Actually Vlasic and Klaassen seem to have it but, particularly the latter, probably doesn't have other attributes needed to survive in the centre of a PL midfield (although I would like to see him given more of a chance to stake a claim).

By subtlety, I mean the ability to play one-twos in the middle of the pitch, to take the ball under pressure and release it with minimal touches, to keep the ball circulating. Then, in the final third, the ability to play a little pass between two defensive bodies.

Pienaar is brilliant at a lot of these traits. Our creative players currently have some good traits but i think lack that bit of creation.

Bolasie / Walcott- straight line runners
Davies - box to box? Not very creative in the main
Schneiderlin- this season has proven we just cannot rely on him, although he's shown glimmers of hope lately
Rooney- Games should be tailored but does bring some craft
Sig- more about delivery from wider areas

Could go on and on. Wilshire is probably the best we could acquire who is excellent in tight spaces. His injury record isn't great but this season he looks far more robust. He wouldn't be someone who comes and scores 10 or 15 goals but how often did Pienaar do this yet we loved him all the same.
A Wilshire or Wilshire type player is an absolute must. We just don't have , what I would call, craft in our midfield. Somebody with the vision and technical ability to pick a pass and also run with the ball, playing little 1-2s as you say. Ideally I'd prefer somebody who wasn't as much as a tool or as injury prone, but he's available on a free and somebody of his standing would cost north of £30m in todays markets.

There's talk of the PSV guy bringing Hakim Ziyech from Ajax who would fill that role. I used to be a big fan but not sure he's exactly developed as expected since he's been at Ajax.

There’s a reason Ki has bounced between Sunderland and Swansea. He’s an average player with a poor attitude, got enough of them already.

He won a trophy at Swansea and got Sunderland to a final, your comment not to be insulting is a bit of a sensational headline without reading the article. Thats before you look at what he won at Celtic.

TBF by that measure he’s been massively successful at all his clubs when you look at their relative histories.

First we sign Wenger, and give him the transfer funds, 5 year contract.

Big Sam, dont let the door hit you in the Arse!

ki can't even get in the swansea, i like him, a neat footballer who when he's at his best is a good player ... but a lower prem level player. I highly doubt there's anything in this, he'd be below mccarthy and besic in the pecking order, two players we'll probably look to offload in the next two years as they can't even get on our bench.

Sign him up, has no one learned anything from Barkley, buy low, sell high.

I actually like Ki And have seen a fair bit of him over the years, he’s underatted, he can play ball, even forward, clever little player, links play well through midfield, not like we need any of them, good vision, spread the play, good range of short and long distance passing, bit of craft playing from deep.

Minimum risk. Others to follow I presume.
He's a Klaassen type player for me. If we ever start playing a brand of football where that could be useful we have one already.

I think it’s variant though we have nothing like craft, creativity or progressive play in the double pivot. I don’t think he’s the game changer but we lack players who are progressive in that position. He would add something different to our option there. We need another two in that position in my opinion.
