This is great, and further proof of the contempt young, wealthy black males from poor backgrounds are held in by this country's media.

It's sickening racism, almost as though they're saying these lads shouldn't be able to earn good money and be successful.

See also Rashford, Sterling etc, even all the way back to the likes of Stan Collymore's treatment from the media.

It's stomach churning, especially when you compare it with the treatment their white counterparts get.

Anyway I hope Aaron gets the support he needs, unfortunately Mental Health amongst young males in endemic, you only have to listen to Alan Brazil this morning saying he hopes he can 'pull himself together' to see the reason why.

The brain is part of the body. When your body is sick, you see a doctor.
Trouble is, when the brain is sick, it generally causes peculiar behavior, and some people (ignorant, stupid or both) just see the behavior and not a person suffering with an illness. These are the same idiots who laugh and point at the physically handicapped. If only ignorance could be treated as a mental illness. Oh well. :(
In the meantime, here is hoping all those who suffer with any kind of mental health issue, get the help and support they need.

Wow, that Daily Fail article is shocking. n

I apologise mate - I know you mean well but I had to laugh at this post.

What you're saying robs people of responsibility for their words and actions. As if their brain just becomes sick and they're doomed in to a life of dreariness and peculiarity. There's no room for subjectivity in what you're saying. It's like a prison sentence.

Speaking of 'mental illness' serves the same purpose. The truth is not that 1 in 4 people suffer from mental illness. 4 in 4 people suffer from mental distress. That is a fact.

We are all peculiar from the get go. How we navigate that and also find a way to suffer in an ordinary way is what is important.

Best of luck to Aaron in his struggle.

Ironic that spurs are asking fans to support an ex player with mental illness after the terrible abuse their fans used to throw at Sol Campbell

You might say its ironic, if you just wanted to score points off fans of another club. Or you might say its an encouraging sign that attitudes seem to be improving among their fanbase and in the wider game.

Imagine, if you will, that our Captain had us over and ran his contract down to get his move to the RS on a free. Imagine the vitriol thrown at Barmby, then multiply that by 10.
Don't think we're in a position to take the moral high ground after them Barmby chants and his treatment.
Anyway, attitudes are changing about mental health, mine certainly is. I remember laughing at Collymore, just couldn't understand how a football millionaire could be depressed.
