Usmanov

Being in Pittsburgh now and growing up equidistant between the two cities, the worst I can remember was the Browns moving to Baltimore. Art Modell literally couldn't go back to Ohio following that move, and he made his millions and spent his life trying to give back to the city of Cleveland. It was kind of like a Shakespearean tragedy seeing that happen. It was kind of the first move in the modern era that solidified the thought that sports was all about the money - the Browns were an NFL and Cleveland institution, and it didn't matter.

Aye especially so given how vehement he was against the original colts move a decade or so earlier, but the Browns and Colts moves where the two ones that kinda put me off the NFL over the years, least the Raven weren't allowed to keep any of the trophies or records though

He already does though. Has complete control.

i see it as this, Usmanov has tried his best at Arsenal, got beaten to the post by Kroenke, when initially trying to buy them, has patiently waited in the back to see if Kroenke seems likely to sell up or 'go hlaves' with him. now i think he realises that he isnt going to get a look in, hence setting his best mate up at Everton and indirectly investing in us.

all we need now is the green light for the iconic stadium on the mersey and i think he will look to sell up at arsenal and buy in to us.

moshiri currently has 49.9% of the shares... i think its no coincidence that he has left 50% of the shareholding for another shareholder. USMANOV.

There were never any developments mate. Just fantasy.

Not really, Kith.

The recent bout of Usmanov fever was fuelled by the fact his company is pumping £75 million into buying naming rights for Finch Farm.

Not saying that in itself is a sign he wants to come on board and invest heavily in the team or owt.....but it surely does rise the speculation on here in recent months above the levels of "fantasy" ;)

is it not streshininski, or is he just a board member?
Skoch is the other USM partner.

  • IVAN STRESHINSKY
Member of the Board of Directors, USM Holdings
    CEO, USM Management

Mr. Streshinsky is a member of the Board of Directors and a shareholder of USM Holdings, as well as CEO of USM Management, a company that provides advisory services to USM Holdings.
  • He serves as chairman of the Board of Directors of Metalloinvest, and is a member of the Board of Directors of MegaFon, Mail.Ru Group and Kommersant. Mr. Streshinsky graduated with honours in applied mathematics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

This the the thing isnt it? It all looks so feasible, and planned, but the elephant in the room is how, and to who, he gets rid off his Arsenal shares.

if he cant sell them, he will just transfer them in name to the other USM shareholder. that free's him up, much like he did for moshiri to come join us. plus it keeps the Arsenal shares within the company, alltho not legally binding to Usmanov of course as you cant not have two shareholdings in two prem clubs.

it will just be exactly what the msoh has already done.

Maybe. Listening to a podcast with @The Esk and some Russian bloke discussing it now.

Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in world football. The shares will sell. All day, every day. Usmanov however has repeatedly stated he has no intention to sell.

it gives Usmanov and moshiri exactly what they want. a prominent position in the limelight at the helm of a top premier league club.

idesally that would have been Arsenal, being fans of the club and all. but that just isnt likely and i think Usmanov see;s this as the right time to switch alligances, what with the potential financial opportunity that Everton offers.

He could sell them to Kroenke - least likley - but it would give Krpoenke full control as the complete owner and ability to not answer to anyone - no agm's etc etc etc and he could de list the club if he so wished (i believe thats the case)
He could sell the shares to one of the many contacts he will have who maybe doesn't mid the idea of a sound investment even with no control
he may sell to someone more palatable to Kroenke - one whom wouldn't be sent to coventry the way usmanov has been and who would be allowed a position on the board etc - chinese investors, fellow USA ones etc
He could sell his stake in R&W holdings to the 3rd partner of USM - yes he has no interest in football, but then again does he need to have an interest - effectively he would be parking the 30% Arsenal shares for a future sale to all intents - as for why would his parnter do this when the cost would likely be 400m or so - why wouldnt he when he has become a billionare already through his relationship with Usmanov

He could list them on the open market, would 30% of Arsenal shares be sellable this way - almost certainly IMO, they have an absolutely massive fanbase - and many many people who would see the opportunity to purchase a small number of shares as soemthing ideal for them

Aye, all are feasible. But if the big idea was to bail out and own Everton, or anyone else for that matter, why did he start the process by buying Moshiri out, then giving himself a monumental headache of how to get rid of 30%, instead of just selling his 15% to Moshiri, or the other lad?

The Russian bloke on the podcast reckons it could be facilitated btw. Just cant say how.

Do you have a link to this podcast? Would like to hear what he thinks
