So basically Usmanov and Kroenke are battling to see who outlives the other and gains full control of Arsenal? How dark.

Since Kroenke already shanked St. Louis and made off with the Los Angeles NFL deal, I wouldn't bet against him. He works quietly in dark spaces and plays for keeps. He provided my Jags with a boss new billionaire owner by sewing up the StL Rams just in time to bug out and go to LA.

He has leverage.

Regardless of the quality of the underlying business, who wants to buy 30% of an illiquid stock (in trading terms) that offers no board position or influence with the dominant majority shareholder whilst releasing the seller to create a major competitor elsewhere?

I think it was said that Usmanov's shares are worth around 300 million. So you're saying he couldn't sell them for, say, 200 million? Or is that he won't be willing to lose 100 million? Maybe that last question seems ridiculous, but if the alternative is to just admit defeat and act like he's happy with what's basically the world's most expensive season ticket... well, what's the price on that for a guy like him?

But even then I don't quite get it: if he really can't sell them for 300 million, then doesn't it mean that they're not worth 300 million? I mean, it's not like he would lose 100 million if he sold them at a discount, because the truth is he already lost that money when Kroenke got controlling interest, thereby devaluing his shares. Or is it that I don't understand the distinction between "value" and "liquidity"?

I thought they just objected to copying, posting links is free advertising and drives traffic to their site, they are clueless if they object to that, people post links to the sun and mirror articles all day long on Twitter.

Those people need a life.

Can someone catch me up on why we're all so excited please? I wanna get excited too.

I love this thread.

NSNO at its finest.

For the best part of 2 decades under the auspices of Johnson then Kenwright & co, we have been skint, sold players to keep going and achieved nothing of note.

"They're killing the club!" people shout. "We need a billionaire!"

Enter Farhad Moshiri.

A brand new dockside stadium is planned. We poach a top manager from a rival PL club. Exciting purchases whet our appetites.

And what do the Everton fans do? Or at least a good portion of the posters on here:

"When is the gazillionaire coming?"

Let's just see what happens next and enjoy the ride eh?

NSNO. It can be a curse as much as an ethos.

Me? I'm excited to see it all unfold.

Oh, and for those who think it will turn us into one of those clubs we despise. We despised them because they had money and we didn't.

Now, we are one of those clubs others despise and are jealous of. As it once was. As it will be again.

NSNO.

Personally I'm more than delighted with the sea-change Morshiri seems to be invoking right now at EFC, we've gone from middling mediocrity to what certainly appears to be the start of a serious organisation with very high aims indeed, this is not the Everton that we're used to; it's a return to NSNO. That said, some things have made me raise an eyebrow, in particular the amount of cash thrown at Koeman and the huge transfer budget we all seem to understand he has likely been promised...

We all know Morshiri is very rich, even by Premier League standards, but if the reports are true then his behaviour seems indicative of someone much richer than even he, if and only if his reported wealth is actually what sources say it is. This leads me to conclude that one of the following is probably true:

A) Morshiri is substantially richer than we have all been led to believe (very possible, he is a world class and internationally renown accountant after all).

B) The reports are all way off the mark (seems unlikely, given that nobody of any merit in the media is questioning them).

C) Morshiri has a partner or partners behind him with even more money than he (seems, to me, the most likely at this stage).

D) Morshiri is willing to splash a lot more of his cash than other people with similar wealth (by all means possible, but perhaps not very likely, he is where he is for a reason).

I think most people on here seem to think C) is true, and are associating Usmanov because of his historic connections with Morshiri, now while I agree with The Esk that Usmanov seems unlikely -- though not impossible -- right now, I do think it's highly likely there is at least one significantly wealthy person watching -- and perhaps directing -- from the shadows.

Time will tell...

Is Usmanov was to sell his share, between now and seasons end would be the best time as if any team is likely to drop out yhe top 4 in the next few years it Arsenal, they dont buy well, thier manager isnt liked by the fans and the board are happy getting 4th but i dont see them as top 4 this year

Er.... Is any of that actually true?

The Premier league uses definitions provided by the City Code on Takeover & Mergers in terms of determining who can and cannot own shares in 2 clubs. Close family members certainly fall into the category not permitted to own shares in two clubs.

Appreciate the answer and clarification as always mate.

In which case got my own sneaking suspicion about a possible incoming investor into BHH, one name (if not Usmanov) stands out given the connections to BP - with the possible incoming new board member, dein connections and Moshiri's contacts via Usmanov and personally, and IF i am correct on that - then every single post about the sheer amount of funding we will have available will be an underestimation.

If i am correct though - Yarmolenko may be strangely back on given my hunch on who it is... ;)

Don't understand why, if there's another shadowy investor just wait waiting in the background, why s/he is shadowy and waiting in the background.

Are we meant to be playing high stakes hide and seek? Or searching for the right wardrobe to take us into Narnia?

Hes stuck at Arsenal at the minute mate...

Certainly a possibility, but given that Morshiri does not seem to be the most extravagant of billionaires, does it seem more likely that he's suddenly had a change of heart and has decided to go all out, or that he has another partner/partners waiting in the wings?
