Two possible motivations - he was allowing his closest business partner the opportunity to do his own thing at Everton - an ambition that developed within Moshiri over the 18 months or so he had considered an acquisition of Everton shares, and/or Usmanov genuinely is prepared to play the long game at Arsenal, regardless of the current impasse with Kroenke.

If it had been Usmanov's intent to invest in Everton prior to Moshiri acquiring his shares, he would have sold his R&W holding to Moshiri or found a buyer for 100% of R&W.

It is possible that Usmanov's intentions have changed since Moshiri acquired his interest in Everton. I still find this unlikely despite the rumours and the ultimate source of the suggestion.

I'm not trying to knock you mate and I know you must be getting board fielding off questions. However if we take possibility 2 that you outline.
1) Could Moshiri have afforded Usmanov's Share?
2) If Moshiri wanted more say in a football club, buying Usmanov's share would not have given him that.
3) If he wanted to sell to an outside party would he not have faced the exact same issues he now faces which you have outlined?

I think the key question people have to ask is what has changed between now and 3 months ago. 3 months ago he didn't want to invest. The only thing I can think of is that he had to act fast to secure the club alongside Moshiri with the Americans moving in and the difficulties he faced made it difficult to do so.

@The Esk , genuine question for you here mate, i always assumed that there is a rule against family members ownign teams in the same league - i.e Usmanov couldn't pass his shares on to say his wife etc, reading soemthing the other day about proposed members of the same family of the city owners buying into the rs, - a oldish article, which stated that their is no such rule preventing family members from ownign shares/control of different clubs in the prem.

Just asking as a clarification more than anything if my original thinking was correct or the article was?

The Premier league uses definitions provided by the City Code on Takeover & Mergers in terms of determining who can and cannot own shares in 2 clubs. Close family members certainly fall into the category not permitted to own shares in two clubs.

Someone who I very rarely get any info from who has good contacts at Everton claims moshiri is Defo not doing this alone and there is a 2nd billionaire involved and the only club we can't match in England financially is city .

I'm not claiming any ITK nonsense here just passing on what I've heard .
Mr. 51% perhaps ?

1) Yes without doubt
2) I agree but this is was suggested on the premise that Usmanov wanted to divest of Arsenal and invest in Everton at the same time as Moshiri did. That being the case it would make more sense to release Usmanov fron his position at Arsenal than Moshiri.
3) Again I agree, but at least the greater force (Usmanov) would have been released to do his good at Everton.

This is why (aside from the suspect legality of such) I don't believe it was Usmanov's intent to join Everton at a later date. I'm still not convinced of his desire to do so now, nor how he would achieve it if he wished to do so.

With the ideas that are being bandied about and the planning for the future, this is very likely. The identity will be intriguing when discovered.

@The Esk How would it work if there was another investor involved? Would they buy a percentage of Blue Heaven LTD? similar situation to R&W holdings at Arsenal?

This bloke form BP thats been banded about - is he likely to be part of that or part of Everton?

It's most likely that future funds would be put into BHH in the IoM and then invested in Everton, yes.

Gilvary I see as a non-exec director, not an investor.
