Joel Robles

robles threw the ball out to Coleman in the second half, it was a terrible ball and put Coleman under pressure and I think we got a throw in out of it. Coleman turned to Robles and give him a mouthful and you could see he wasn't happy, what made me laugh was Robles turned to Coleman and shrugged his shoulders as if to say do better next time not my fault.

Sometimes you need GK who is arrogant and even over confident to the point nothing is his fault
Special breed GK and I the Robles has some of them qualitys to go on to be a good GK

I don't see what else Robles could have done for their goal. If he had moved more to his left and it had gone in on his near post he would have been slated for that. In a one-on-one situation it is as much luck or just poor finishing that prevents a goal.

No moans over Robles for the goal, City broke very quickly and finished it well
In fairness I never mentioned Robles being at fault

It's a two way street, maybe the defenders needed the comfort of knowing there's a competent keeper behind them
Oh its a two way street now? I thought judging by some of the reactions i've been seeing recently that keeper was the only person resposible for any goals conceaded! Look Joel played well last night and as i've alredy said i'd give him a chance at first choice just to see how it goes. It does need to be pointed however Joel was given profesional defensive help by our defenders doing their job for once, somthing that ANY keeper we use should get every single match.

And yet someone suggested last night he should have done better with the Navas goal.

Robles had a good game last night, made a couple of good saves and looked quietly confident.

He did rush out a bit for their goal though and wasn't positioned perfectly, so made it a bit easier for Navas, and a few times he threw the ball out to a defender who didn't want it so he wasn't perfect.

I'd start him in the League games now though, no question.

The defence did their job because they had a competent keeper behind them who they trust

Yes, he should start. Howard needs to be taken out of the firing line.

I think that was more to the change of formation with Besic and Barry playing superb in front of them.
2 years of gash from starjumps no matter the defence or midfielder yet the last several games when Joel is in we have looked so much more solid. The GK is a big issue

I'm gutted Dougie is banned you know, this and the Howard thread would make for superb entertainment at the moment

With respect pal, thats bollocks. You cant have it both ways, the defence are resposible for their own individual actions just like the keeper is resposible for his. Thats been my problem with the Howard out side. I can see he has made many major mistakes this season (prob closer to two years now), but it seams to me that your just closing your eyes to the fact that the defenders have also made quite a few mistakes that Howard has nothing to do with (but never the less got the blame for!). I dont want to side track this and take away from the fact that Joel did well im just saying it would be nice to see colective resposibilty on the pitch.

GK is second most vital position for me behind a goalscorer.

Joel did well, but I'm still not sold on him. A few of his early games have scarred me.

True he was shakey at the start but hes really settled down since he got that run last year imo, looks so much more assured now, hes the best option we have at the minute until someone is bought
