Roberto Martinez discussion

Certain players have been under-performing in recent weeks...
  • Arouna Kone.
  • John Stones.
  • Tom Cleverley.
  • Tim Howard.
  • Seamus Coleman (defensively)
Looking at that list, we could easily swap out three faces (Mirallas for Kone, Gibson for Cleverley and Robles for Joel)

But Martinez is known for sticking with his beliefs.
I'm all for Robles replacing Joel if it means Howard is 3rd choice.

I love your stats: a collection of numbers related to points or wins gained from one arbitrarily chosen point in the calendar to another arbitrarily chosen point.

Of course, the only stats that matter almost halfway through this season are A) how far off the European spots we are , and B) how well we've done in the only cup that's been up for grabs. The scores on the doors in that respect are: 6 points off a CL place and into the SF of the LC.

Do you think the first part of that equation is good enough currently? 6 points is 1/10th of your entire seasons target. That's not touching distance, not for a team that has failed to win back to back for a long period. Shame as we have some fantastic players yet the likes of Spurs and Leicester are putting in credible top 4 challenges.

Stones has been underperforming because Jags isn't next to him

What job? You must have an expectation in mind. What have we done over the first 17 games that is moving is towards this target? Rather than just laughing at other posts them coming out with baseless statements, back some of them up. What is the job you expect of Martinez and how is he achieving it?

I was laughing at the ridiculous amount of energy folks are spending on this topic. Dissertations.

We've lost 4 in 17. We are one of the most exciting teams in the league and we're so very close to being ace. Just have to tighten things up.

It's laughable the amount of energy folks are expending on this topic.

@ianefc haven't read all your post but te last time his subs change things was when he brought Kone and Gibson on against WBA who were instrumental in getting the win. Prior to that Naismith against Chelsea and prior to that McGeady against west ham
Was the momentum getting away from us in the Chelsea game? About 4 minutes in? So really you're saying once this season and then before that the Final game of last season, 18 league games ago.

Unbelievably, we are two points better off than at the same stage last season.

Goes to show how bad last season was and why it caused some of the fence sitters to have doubts, that we are only 2 points different also goes a long way to explaining why no one has had their doubts caused by last season eradicated yet, despite some improved play in certain areas of the pitch.

We have a league full of teams doing their best to make us look better than we are by also not picking up points, but every week we get a draw and another big team gets a draw or loss, its another chance gone to catch up.

Its a shame, but it is what it is.. We are not as good as many of those we used to be better than, its a sad fact, but we are not far off being where we were..

We have basically moved from best of the rest, to simply the rest, which is fair considering our comparative spend.

So he gets an easy time of it beccause other teams are underperforming also. Nothing but the best unless some of the others are crap.
