John Stones transfer saga

They are hiding, putting their heads into the sand.

The manager is preparing the team for a game tonight.

There is already distraction enough without increasing it yet more.

The club stance at this moment in time is what it has been all along.

He is not for sale.

Let Stones, his agent and Chelsea worry about what happens next.

We have Barnsley to think about.

Some words from Phil McNulty.....

Everton have yet to make any official response on whether they have received - let alone rejected - the transfer request from defender John Stones as he tries to push through a move to Chelsea. Take it as read, though, that the request has been made.

Manager Roberto Martinez has been particularly vociferous in his insistence that Stones will stay - even if he requests a transfer - so it would be very interesting to see his stance should he eventually leave.
Everton, if they do decide to make their position public, will surely reject the request because to do otherwise accepts Stones will leave and hand control of the situation to Chelsea as they weigh up whether to make a fourth bid.

I really hope Everton show some guts and don't roll over here, West Brom are in exactly the same situation with Berahinino and have publicly rejected his transfer request, regardless of the end result to do otherwise is simply weak by the club.

I would totally be into Martinez putting his foot down and not selling him. Even though it might be detrimental I'd love him to show who's boss ;)

Good luck? Why? All I know is that he f our beloved club up now. If he wanna f off he should have done it in July not seven days before the window, the unfaithful judas.

How has he 'f'd up the club' you absolute balloon

If he ruptured his cruciate ligament tonight, it would be more of a problem than getting 40m for him with a week to go. 'Judas' - honest to God I hope Mao comes back via a bizarre zombie summoning ritual and puts you on a forced march to Kopiteland

If you feel like that then I guess you are still expecting them to honor what they have been saying. "They won't sell".

I think you and me both know that won't happen but we will see.
The fact That RM has fetched a young unknown UNPROVEN south american Centre back in for peanuts is an indication he does not want to sell stones, if he knew the board were going to do a big deal he would have set his height a lot higher as he is still scurrying around for a work permit for a youth player!
No Stones has triggered this move with his agent you can fantasise all you want about the club setting it all up with only 6 days to deadline day ?

Everton do not need to make any kind of statement folks.

Stones is contracted to us.

We do not want to sell him.

Others want to buy him.

We are in the driving seat.

We do not have to go public.

Sit tight, stay calm, ride out the media driven fume on behalf of Chelsea, and retain both the player and our dignity in not, repeat not, caving in.

If he handed in a transfer request and prepared to let him go Bobby would not be just sitting back guarantee there's been enquires if not bids for replacements today be foolish just sitting back

I don't think it will be any way detrimental.

We roll over here and we have worse to come next year when Rom decides it is time he moved on.

A line needs to be drawn in the sand.

And you kniw what?

I think it will be.

I wasn't comparing this situation to those mate, I agree, they are very different.

edit : When I was talking about our best players I was thinking of our current best players rather than those who have already left.

Stones is at fault for the timing of this, but the board are also at fault for having a business plan which increases the chance of this type of situation happening.

Putting aside the extra wages which Chelsea will be offering, he's likely to have more significantly opportunities to play at a very high level with Chelsea ( Champions League ) than he is at Everton. The risk for him is that he's not guaranteed to be first pick at Chelsea.
Doubt Stones has any knowledge or interest in our business plan.If players want to leave, they leave.Man U couldn't keep hold of Ronaldo when Madrid came calling.Otomendi was with a club with EL and a rich owner.Players jumping ship for better contracts is just a part of the modern day game.We need to look at Soton, last season their first team squad was pillaged, yet they went on to have there best season in a long time.
