The main thing for Everton is to get as much money as possible. Chelsea are obivously paying a lot more than they hoped. They reconed they'd get him for about £24m and now it will be £34m. We have some promising defenders on our books, and we need talent further up the field so it could still work out for us.

I think Rom has already made it quite clear he will be moving on to a "bigger club" in the future.

Clearly the players see us as a stepping stone - we aren't building a team to fight the top six. If we were doing that we would have found the money to replace Pienaar last year - we haven't even done it this year. The chance of reaching the top and winning trophies as a professional footballer at Everton are almost zero unless something changes.

The biggest problem is lack of ambition and no backing for the manager from the board - that why we cannot sign anybody and our good players end up leaving. That is fact mate !

I agree, but he's been instructed as to the timing of when to hand it in. So he's a collaborator in my eyes, not the sole perpetrator.

I now would never believe a thing this board says.

It's too convient that late in the window a transfer request is handed in. For the 5th time.

This all suggests to me a managed exit.

The things I have heard now look really cynical ploys by EFC.

No of course not but it all adds up. There has been no mention of Martinez's transfer budget. Where was the Yarmalenko money coming from? I assume he still has that cash to use.

Or the fact we hadn't spent it until now speaks volumes that the club were perhaps banking on chelsea coming back in? when they didn't they had to go to plan B. No evidence of this bar my opinion though

To be honest it doesnt matter anyway. No matter how much we spend we will end up in roughly the same position regardless. Football is terrible these days.

Not baseless it was reported last night that Spurs have bid 21 mil and WBA are wanting 25 mil. That to me sounds like he's for sale at a price.

It's just sadness I feel that he want's out more than anything else

My anger is mainly being directed at the media, his agent and the Everton board, in that order
