John Stones transfer saga

Andy Gray is loving this isn't he.

Claims he doesn't want it to happen because he's an Evertonian lol.

Have to say there are quite a few of our past "legends" that love to sell our players in the media.

He was selling Stones harder than anyone last week. I lost a massive amount of respect for him as soon as he opened his trap on TalkSport.

In 2013/14 the profit was £28 million which is roughly the sum that was made by selling players and included the first of the 3 years increased revenue from the TV deal.

In 2014/15 there really weren't any player sales of not so on a like for like then it would seem that there is no profit. There will have been a bit more from commercial and a bit less from TV

We don't know what the wage bill will look like but it's hard to believe in that year taking into account the comings and goings that the wages would drop and of course you have to feature into all of it that impact the signings of the likes of Lukaku , Besic and Barry

Balancing cash in against cash out isn't the same as what will be shown in the accounts but £60 million is way too optimistic as to available funds my guess would be a maximum of £10 million and that would easily have reduced significantly following on from what some believe was a free transfer
Stop it with the figures. No one knows anything for certain per year. Not how much we pay in transfers. Now how much we get in transfers. Not how much we earn. Not how much debt we have. Nothing.

The facts are we get almost 40K every game and have consistently finished in the top 7 and this year is a year where all other clubs are filthy rich due to the TV money.

Yet we are spending like a championship team.

That's all you need to know.

Agree a million times. We will indulge him, love him, improve him and then--if we don't get into the CL ourselves in the next season or so--let him go with good grace. Those mercenaries will bench and ridicule him after one bad game. Really? In recent years, how many "talents" have left this club and thrived? Arteta is the only player who springs to mind. Even Fellaini faced a complete barracking for most of his first season at Man U. And then there's all those players who sank like a stone.

I don't think even Arteta has "thrived" since leaving here.

Outside of Rooney I am struggling to think of a player who has enhanced husband reputation after leaving here in the past twenty years.

And even Wayne never became the player the football world thought he would be when he first broke on to the scene.

Good post bizzy.
Sickener if he goes but we can't hold it against the lad .... 4 times his salary and going to a club with ambition to win trophies .... No brainer really ...we end up with evans and a couple more nobodies and we will keep turning up every week .... Real low at this club if this happens worse than all of the others for me

How quick where WBA to publicly reject Saido Berahino's request? thats not me being funny, i am genuinely interested if it was hours or days.

We need to make some sort of statement, to stop the media carrying on this pathetic attempt of tapping up... or not successful attempt of tapping up depending on which way it goes.

Silence is a bit deafening though, simple, "request rejected" or "no request given" is all it needs. or alternatively "club accepts £30 million and a dry bumming from chelsea after transfer request"

It was hours.

WBA have handled this a lot better than us, but I think in their case the transfer request is genuine and has come as a surprise. With us... well, Charlie Adam of all people put it best here:

No statement because the Board wants to sell.....they've had a lot of success off loading our better players.....no need to change the narrative now.... all we need now is a deadline day near miss on David Silva ...

If the request is in and we're letting him go - what do people realistically think we can push them for?

Chelsea have had a relatively quiet summer by their standards so personally I think we can take them for £45m+

Will be lucky to get £35m now he's put in a transfer request. We still shouldn't sell at all unless it's £40m+.

because it is paid over time, and the fee wasnt 28 as such, we had the loan fee included in that and the fact the deal is set up to pay over a few years.

So we didnt spend 28 million, but credit where credits due the deal was great considering who it was for

So on that basis Everton never received the stated sum for Flamani

Garry Linekar said the same thing. We all know that's how it plays out which is why there's so many calls to change the date of the end of the window.

at the club is getting more and more money, does it not concern
yes mate but we have a wage budget. That tells us how much wages a week we can offer a new player, or if we can actually sign someone. So any deals or new signings are taken into account. Wages and fee are completley different as we could have 100 million to spend and not be able to offer more than 10 grand a week spare. Obviously far more complicated than that but that is the simple way of looking at it.

But the fact that the club is getting more and more money, does it not concern you that martinez is olny getting such small transfer budgets? Better yet, do you think keeping our current players a success via the new contracts? Considering we havent been succesful in 20 years now? Or perhaps it has been 20 years since winning a trophy and we are still selling to buy despite being in the top 6 clubs for nearly 15 years give or take a league placing.

No of course not but it all adds up. There has been no mention of Martinez's transfer budget. Where was the Yarmalenko money coming from? I assume he still has that cash to use.

I just think people forget wages etc. Take this Stones scenario now. People are saying we need to spend every last penny of what we may receive for him. Lets say we get 40M, our fans will expect lets say a 20M marquee signing and 2 10M signings. But that doesnt balance out as Stones is on about 30k currently, the new players will be after 50k a week at least so thats a 120k deficit a week already for us. It all adds up.

To be honest it doesnt matter anyway. No matter how much we spend we will end up in roughly the same position regardless. Football is terrible these days.

Arteta was finished as the player he once was when he got that cruciate injury. He still had the class to play in the middle but he was never the same as that player who could even play on the wing just beating men from a standing start. We got the best out of that deal no question....oh wait we didn't see any of the money, scratch that.

Don't think they did. They said 25 mil and he can talk to other clubs otherwise he's staying.
