Could this be 94/95 the sequel?

started all guns blazing as well, should really have done something that year

Barmby was signed not long after aswell & the likes of Branch, Cadamateri, Jeffers, Dunne, Ball, Osman & Hibbert were all highly rated in the youth set up. Could have built something for years to come.

Baffles me how it all went horrendously wrong so quickly.

Those old enough will remember how bad things were at the start of that season right up until the Duncan derby in November.

Things were bad, REALLY bad, we had an awful side full then. It just took a spark in the form of Joe Royle and Duncan to lift the place, the fans most importantly.

We are stale now. But who knows, there could be something around the corner because these things happen often when you least expect it.

We ended the season with the FA Cup and started the next with Andrei Kanchelskis in our side.

Sorry, just trying to be optimistic. I hate Gareth Barry.

We may be bad but no where near as [Poor language removed] as that side. So no FA cup for us then.

Mate I wouldnt worry. According to half the match day posters, we are all knee jerking for the second consecutive season and all will be fine.
Seems some people are happy with mid table or lower. Even though they havent seen it coming.
Me? I just smile a lot. Any middle aged fan will know the tough times and that we are sliding there again. Unless something changes.

Unless we are in a relegation fight towards the end of the season kenwright won't get rid of Martinez.

Martinez is clearly building for the future. Kenwright will give him time

All Moyes was ever missing was a top class striker, we have one now and the current boss has no idea how to get the best out of him.
Sorry but Moyes ruined strikers!!! Beattie Johnson yakubu jelavic to name a few. They were all allowed to be the striker they were when they first joined, 2nd season for all them was to then adapt to Moyes' style of making the striker work the channels down the wing.

My favourite memory of that season was the unbelievable support the team got.even at the start of the year when we was bottom of the league.our support has changed beyond recognition over 20 years

Those were desperate times. The team needed the fans, and we answered. And when the team needs us this year Goodison will roar once again.

All true but look at that season you mentioned. We threw away the first three games (like we are now) because we hadn't sorted out transfers. Then the wheels came off at the end of the season as shown at the Palace home game. It was also a season when the point scoring was extremely high in the prem so perhaps our performance relatively wasn't as good as it looked even if it was a record.

I maintain the position of Everton has to be unless we get further investment as part of the group of nearest challengers to the top 4. For a while this meant best of the rest and the glass ceiling looked impenetrable. That has changed now and you have Spurs and Liverpool on the outside looking in. Considering that before last season we had finished ahead of both of those sides 2 out of 3 seasons then we should absolutely be in that group challenging. That way if, like last season, someone like United are having a poor season, you can be in place to strike. Being 11th not even in the conversation is not acceptable. Fine, maybe a good manager (like Moyes was) would have us in the top 6 of this league, 7th at the very worst absolutely no problem. 30 mill striker up front 3/4 of England's defence, midfield prodigies and genuine class attackers like Mirallas, this team should be nowhere near 11th. Martinez like the board is managing a decline in expectations. Remember when Moyes got lambasted for even suggesting 7th was a decent performance? Now half the fan base would love the much derided 7th place trophy. We should be aiming higher. A good manager would have us top 6 last season. A very good manager would have had us top 4.
stopped right there tbh haha
