BBC says the figure Spurs have paid is reported to be £10m.

The same article says we had a £5m bid accepted for Naughton.

So effectively, as expected, Spurs have paid £5m for Kyle Walker, a player who has played just 2 times for Sheffield Utd.

Clearly we had no chance. Even if we had Man Citys money, I doubt Moyes would have paid that. Clearly Spurs recognised they would have to gazump us financially otherwise on a level playing field, Naughton would have come to us everytime.

£5m for Kyle Walker. Can't get over that. Most ridiculous, pathetic signing in football history. Even if he goes on to be a really good player - theres absolutely no justification in paying £5m for a 19-year-old who has played twice in the Championship.

That signing epitomises everything that is wrong with football. A transfer cap may seem far-fetched, but something has to be done.

I sometimes really wonder, why I can even be bothered with football. The whole industry that football has become, is sick to the bone.

Spurs are past masters at paying over the odds for promising players.
One look at their squad, tells you it hasn't worked for them so far.
I fully expect one or both to leave within 2yrs for less than half of what was paid for each.

we just have to except that sheffield utd done us no favours and that naughton would rather see his career rot away at spurs (for a slightly bigger pay packet).i would rather have seen the lad stay at utd for the sake of his career then go to that players graveyard.

granted, watching everton deal in the market is at times as un-enjoyable as watching steven hawkin spank his monkey and is slightly demorilsing. but we must move on regardless.

I sometime wonder what's wrong with Everton? Can't we not even sign a player before end of July? I am not saying we have to spend 10~15M on one player, but surely we could sign someone 5~7M.

God, they have to made fans suffer every summer, could they just sign one or two player before August? We have one of the smallest squad in the league, yes, we do have some good and decent player, but we don't have enough of them.

If we are serious about challenging for Top 4 finish, we going need some quality player in soon, or else we would see Moyes suffer once more, come on give the man the tools he need.

Puts it into a little perspective really. 2 games in the Championship and Sheff Utd cashed in on £5mill and get him on loan for a season.

You can see why they pulled the plug on us like.

well going back to the other week when phillip carter mentioned our injured players "being like new signings" i did wonder if the club would rest on its laurels.


granted the team did well with bad injuries.
granted we will be stronger with them back.
granted our younger players will have improoved
granted our newer players will be more settled

but i dont see any reason why we shouldnt still look to add more quality.

so far (apart from jo) i see 'ones for the future ' and squad fillers being the extent of our ambition.

(im not saying this is the case but thats what it looks like up till now)

This is exactly what I am thinking at the moment, well, if that is the case then Moyes would have to change his Rooney mode, and change it to Rodwell mode, coz if this is the case you did expect Rodwell, Gosling and Coleman to be starting alot of games and may be even seeing Mustafi, Peterlin & Wallace more offen?

Saying there is alot of room for improvement and I believe we need couple more player, although I am confident Rodwell would be more useful to us this season, I watch all the game he play in during the U21 championship and I was particular impress with his performance in the Germany game (Group stage), if he could play like this more offen, he did become our new Carsley.
