Everton annual accounts

Some of the stuff popping up on me facebook timeline. Anthony Gardner bought for 1 million from Spurs on the eve of deadline day. Walter Smith told he'll have no money to spend because of the overdraft....

Fast forward a few years and people are moaning after we've bought in a 15 million striker on loan and a winger who's last transfer was for 18 million. How time's change.

Hahahaha spin much?!

"We've brought in £33m worth of footballing talent lads!"

Traore is about ten days from fitness. If we waited till he was fit the window would be closed. Why spend serious money on players who will be out of the picture when our injuries clear up...which will be pretty soon, apart from Gibson and Kone . Coleman, Distin,Lukaku, Deloufeu, Barkley, should all be back soon. Add McGeady and Traore and maybe one more tomorrow and we have a very strong squad. Would anyone spend their money on a house now, knowing a better one would be available in the summer? Of course not, you' rent a house until the summer. Get it ?

And Lukaku is a minimum four weeks.

What happens if Traore comes back in ten days and then gets injured again, or turns out to be absolute crap ?

We don't have a very strong squad at all. We've got a fairly large amount of wide players, then we have two orthodox midfielders in our entire squad, one out and out attacking mid in Barkley, and one fit striker.

Thats true, but they may not be the player martinez wants.

its ok thinking someone is good in general, but if the manager doesn't want him then its a pointless argument.

Holtby, defour and more that may be available, if we don't want them then they'll go somewhere else.

Martinez is building a project, he'll get the okayers he wants and he'll clear the deadwood out

Maybe we are breaking the cycle of the bridging loan. Its basically a million quid of interest being pissed up a wall. Five years is five million quid, not to be sniffed at.

This biggest TV deal is just the same as the previous TV deals, it will end up the pockets of the players. We can look back at the previous record breaking TV deals, and you will see as night follows day, the wages jump up.

If we had vision, that extra TV money could fund the interest payments on a new stadium venture.

So it should. That's what you have to do if you want to compete in the Premier League. No manager can be expected to break the top four whilst we continue to have the lowest net spent in the league each transfer window.

Yes, I concur.

Reading the accounts and the player trading activity at the club is crucial to keeping the banks happy in terms of overdraft facility - the club have been willing to demonstrate they can cover overdrafts with sale of the assets in blue jerseys. It's basically another way of saying that they sell players in that sense because they have a retarded commercial operation (and, of course, zero intention of ponying up cash themselves to invest...or allow other to buy into the club via a share issue that would dilute their proportion of potential sell on riches) to cover any eventuality.

Player trading is the name of the game here.

The odds are that a player Martinez has identified as a target will be available now if we made the bid. To say that EVERY player won't be available to the summer is stretching credibility.

Look at Fernando for example. Not saying we could get him now as he's linked with City, but he's a player Martinez identified and he's very much available now for a reasonable price. Sergio Canales looks out of favour, wouldn't be surprised if he was a target. Point is, we don't know Martinez's shortlist, but if everyone has price tags inflated ridiculously then he's either so unlucky that he should no longer go out doors for fear of an accident, or he needs to sack his entire scouting team.

If it's true that there are no players available in the entire world that don't suit Martinez's plans and aren't available for a good price i'd have to question our scouting network, as that's utter nonsense in my eyes.

Evra, Arteta, Vidic, Cantona, Suarez, Coutinho, Gibson, Jelavic etc.

Correct, when you have an operating loss most years and a negative balance sheet, what else can you do but trade players profitably?

I know, but every one keeps bringing up the new TV deal like we are the only club to receive it or something.

We need to organically grow our commercial revenues to gain an advantage on our rivals, at the moment we are just threading water.

Find investment/get a stadium built...after 14 years that isn't an unreasonable expectation.

They failed on both and that is why they are incompetents.

That ring fenced £30m will be found soon, then we'll kick on.

That's been the hallmark of this regime: they're use of finances (obfuscation thereof) as a weapon against their own fanbase.

The book to be written about this shower would be a page turner.

It was a rhetorical question, I as you know their failings both in finding investment and building a suitable new stadium.
