Leighton Baines

I am not a great fan of the two DMs which is so in vogue these days but would be reluctant to break up Jm and Gb at the moment. The change worked so well today because Barkley was in such good form, really in zone. He could have played well wherever he went today. I don't think he ll produce like that regularly yet in that deeper position. Think GB is a bit slow for Lb although he did well in there today.

Looks like Baines will eventually sign a new contract, which I think is positive, the lad is Everton through and through.
His kids are Everton fans and so his he.

The contract is still being sorted out, but I've been told that he will sign a new one at some point.

So all this nonsense about him leaving in January for definite, is just pure speculation at best, he doesn't want to leave and is settled.

In that case why doesn't he just say he wants to stay and put an end to the speculation?

Defensively it may be less risky to play Barry there than Oviedo.

But Oviedo should start and get a run, this is his chance right now. If we're not going to play him now we might as well flog him in January.
