Leighton Baines

I just watched it and he is defo off in January, the way he spoke about the way spurs invested the bale money as well, I think if we would have had someone lined up in August he would have gone then as well. We don't know the true story maybe Baines wants to go. If we can can get £18 million I trust Martinez to do well with the money.

I don't think it's certain he's leaving at all. Martinez knows what a player he is. And he said it's time to trust the club and that Baines is happy and enjoying his football. I think he will stay and after January we will look at extending his contract. In the past Martinez has said the valuation was not met but as his months run down that valuation will decrease but I'm optimistic that Baines is happy, well in the England squad/team and we will just have to wait and see. No way is it inevitable that he's leaving.

If he wants to go then let him, no player is bigger then this club.

As long as we get as much money as possible.

Sick of the mentality of "wish him all the best"

WE need to be the best.

I just think after what Stubbs said it looks more likely. Why would Stubbs lie about it?

Stubbs is a grade A [Poor language removed]. But I doubt he was lying about it.

Will be gutted to see Leighton go, I'm certain Martinez has his main man on the job already searching for replacements.

I wonder if his fee would allow us to meet any asking price for Lukaku? (If there even is one, like)

Baines out and Lukaku signed wouldn't be the worst bit of business, given Lukaku's probable ridiculous sell-on value were we to get him on a long contract.

Just watched RM's press conferenece. To me he just gave stock answers. Could be construed that he 'avoided' the question but his response was no different to what he's given in the recent past. We're no clearer on Baines' 'apparent' transfer than we were 6 weeks ago.

Not debating whether Stubbs is liked or not, but what reason would he have to lie about it? I can't think of a single reason, he works at the club so you'd expect him to lie and say he doesn't want to leave, the fact he came out and said he wanted to looks more and more like the truth to me.
Put with that RM looking anywhere but forward during the interview just and the amount of rumours building up. I think it's going to happen sadly.

I think we'd be daft to do it in Jan though, why help strengthen a rival and weaken ourselves for the last few months of the season?

Man Utd have three left backs and went after Coentrao on deadline day.

Throw in the type of personality Baines is, his age and the asking price and I don't think it'll happen.

Always ready to be proven wrong, of course.

Good point, it'd be like going after a 30 year old striker for 6m...wait

look...he might leave and he might not, its not definite either way, trying to tell from martinez body language isnt gonna tell us anything! especially as things change so quickly in football

All these blokes around here whom consider themselves such great readers of people's mannerisms and facial expressions should catch the next plane to Vegas.

They'll make a fortune in the Poker pits.

As soon as his transfer approaches certainty, [Poor language removed] him. I care about Everton not Leighton Baines; my love for the latter is merely an extension of the former. Let's get as much money as we possibly can for him, nothing else matters.
