Player Valuation: £70m
I have listened to Cal and Halewood Blue and taken onboard there incredible discontent of the club. I actually think they are justified in their fury.

I have also listened to others like Danny and Micknick, and their optimisim is commendable.

But at the end of the day, what positives are there to take from the current state of affairs?

We have gone from 5th pushing for Top 4. All talk about taking the next step, Kirkby being a pivotal event, regardless of what anyone says, because there can be no denial that as soon as Kirkby went tits up, the club all of a sudden offloaded AJ and made no signings. Now the club has started to make signings. Free and loan deals, injured players and looking at old men to bolster the ranks.

No doubt Danny and Mick will tell us to wait until after the deadline, and sure we may wait. But unless the club signs Moutinho, then I really can't see how this is going to be a good season. I really honestly believe now we are going to be mid-table.

Why mid-table? Well we can afford to drop points at home to Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U and Chelsea - but we can't afford to drop points against Blackburn and Pompey.

It is a [Poor language removed] state of affairs, and like I said, a player of Moutinho's stature is going to be the only thing that is going to drag this situation out of the mire.

Please correct me? and explain why you think it isn't that bad.

I would love to correct you mate, I really would :(

Its [Poor language removed] at the moment and the fact that we are venting our frustration the media are taking the micky out of it and making it something its not

Alot like the Credit Crunch

I can't wait to see what Kenwright has got to say at this EGM, hopefully someone will take notes and load it up to the internet somewhere.

Sadly I agree with you 100%. The signings we've seen hasn't been up to the standards that Moyes has said all summer that he'd be signing. Sure they are either internationalls or have plenty of experience.. but they are not the players we need.

The start of the season has shown that we are very, very vulnerable to injuries. Cahill, Pienaar gone in midfield and no DM.. equal 6 points lost already that will be tough to snatch back.

Yeah but what do we hear from the manager?

The Everton chief has made clear throughout the summer his intention to add to his current crop, and began that process last week with the signings of Lars Jacobsen and Segundo Castillo.
Bit late now Moyes mate!!!

"People talk about us winning cups here - and I've got to say I've had some bad days, at Shrewsbury and Oldham - but in the main cup draws have never been that kind to us.
Stop moaning, if your not positive than how can we be!!!1

I agree with what your saying 99%, you see i dont even think Moutinho alone can save us now. The fact is we have been playing 2 CBs in CM all season, you can get away with that down the park on a Sunday, maybe even in some of the very, very lower leagues, you can NOT get away with that in the Premiership.

I honestly think Castillo will turn out to be a little diamond, i base this on the very limited clips ive seen of him and also the fact that Ecuador are a very good up and coming country football wise, but mostly a gut instinct.

But we all agree that we are going to need at least 2 and possibly 3 midfielders, if we dont bring these players in and they arent the quality that we are lacking then its gonna be a long long season.

Im willing to wait, but time is running out, not only for BK and possibly DM, but for our season. I do appluad the ppl trying to remain postive and i wish i could think like them, i really do, im sure Cal and HB would love to have nothing to moan about, but i agree with dixie that sadly i can see were they are coming from.

The facts are very very stark, 2 home games, 2 defeats, 2 players sold in the last season, none BOUGHT, Centre Backs in Midfield, bench and 1st team full of 16-17 year olds, yea its not Walter Smith and its not Agent Johnson, but its not riding high is it now?

Sadly, i think you're right. If we don't get at least two quality midfielders before tomorrow's deadline, I think we're in for a season of mediocrity in the Premier League. We haven't replaced Carsley and Fernandes. Ah well, Castillo may prove to be a great buy, but I think it's a high risk game played by DM. However, not getting anyone in to replace Fernandes will hunt us for the rest of the season. We seem to rely totally on Mikel Arteta as our playmaker and if he isn't in the game, we seriously lack of ideas. Don't think it's fair on Mikky either, so let's hope we'll get the required quality in before the 2nd of September.

On current form we'll be looking at relegation never mind mid-table, if we don't shape up very very soon, I can see our season going into free fall...

How's that for optimism...

On the plus side - wages will drop from 75% of turnover................

.....I'm not helping am I? :P

The thing is, I doubt you'll find anyone in the club that will spin this summer as one they wanted.

Back in May I'm sure that we wanted Kirkby to go through and to bring in some real quality.

Kirkby has obviously encountered some problems, and the transfers this summer havn't gone well at all. We're bringing in players now but I doubt they're ones Moyes wanted back in May at all. Hopefully a marquee signing will be made before the window closes.

However as I've said before, we can't change what has already gone. All we can do is work with what we have. The people writing off this season already are crazy. We've made mistakes, of that there is little doubt but I don't mind people making mistakes providing they are learnt from. No one in life is perfect. One thing people have forgotten this summer is that we are in territory now that we havn't been in for over 20 years. It's safe to say that just as we lack experience of the very top on the pitch, we also lack the experience off the pitch.

So lets learn from this summer as a club and go on to bigger things as a result. Remember it was said by many that we'd blown our one and only chance against Villareal and Bucharest but we've come back much stronger and had a fine run in Europe last season. Moyes is learning all the time, as I'm sure the club are, what's required to compete at the very top.

I'm staying on for the ride. Are you?

We are all here for the ride. Some of us are going to sit on the ride and ignore the big hole in the track and some of us are gonna shout and scream and get somebody to fix the hole.

The hole is there, you can ignore the hole and enjoy the ride or you can admit the hole is there. Either way none of us can get off.

I don't think people bemoanig the lack of transfer activity at Everton this summer are planning to abandon the ship. For sure, I'm at least staying on for the ride (and will stay on for the rest of my life for that matter) and agree that one bad summer doesn't mean the end for the progression of Everton Football Club. However, I do feel that Evertonians have the right to question the proceedings at Everton this summer. Standing still in football, means going backwards and (if we fail to sign the required quality) we've blown a very good chance of a giant step forward. I'm sure David Moyes would agree to that.
