They're not though, unfortunately. He does very little for long periods of matches.

People are blinded by the goals he scores. There is far more to being a central midfielder in the Champions League or Premiership than scoring worldies ffs.

Gerrard scored 9 goals last season but was utter gash for the majority of it.

I meant that as an example of why I wouldn't take into account passing stats when I'm judging a player. I know he's not playing 40yd through balls every five minutes. I'm not blinded by his goals at all either. Looking at a lot of his goals this season there's not many worldies in there.

A lot of them are where he's got himself into the box and got on the end of something. Not many CM's are capable of that while still playing a disciplined role. He's also constantly switching play and the majority of his passes go forward. There aren't many CM's with the conviction to play that way in the PL which is why the standard of football is so poor.

His passing stats this season are worse than Leon Osman's.
We won the passing!!!. How about goals?.... Lampard has been at the top end of Premier league midfielders for over 10 years. He's still doing it now, maybe he's coming to the end of that but he's still better than Osman. We won't be getting him anyway.

Never going to happen.

I can think of not one reason why he would come here, in fact plenty why he wouldnt.

He is a London lad, a family man, (I know he is divorced), with all his family down there.
Pay cut. Probably.
His bird wouldnt like it.
No CL. Probably.
No realistic chance of winning anything.
Kid on the way. I think.
Londoners, in general, just do not like Liverpool/Liverpudlians/The North.
It is in the Daily Star FFS.
If we are the best his agent can get him, that agent might be looking for a new client!

Plus he is related to the Redknapp's. Fcuk him, plus his bird has been banged by Adrian chiles.

I suspect you play mate rather than look at stats, you're absolutely spot on.

One look at him watching the game pass him by as he plods aimlessly for england hints at what he's about. Away from the comfort zone of 10 others dominating the game he gets done for pace and overrun in midfield which even the odd goal doesn't disguise.

Think Michael Owen and Beckham away from Liverpool and Utd and there it is - good for snapshots with granny and fck all else.

Exactly and he won't get that comfort zone here. One of the typical Sky fans favourite players though as you can see on this thread.

He's a fantastic player, one of the best of his generation, hasn't performed on the international for sure, but for West Ham and Chelsea he's been a star player for over 10 years now, consistently banging in goals and setting them up.

Sure he doesn't do a lot of grafting, when you've had players like Makelele and Essien doing for you, why would you? Play to your strengths.

We'll never sign him in a million years, but to turn him down, or for fans to say that wouldn't want him, is ludicrous really. I think he still has a bit more in the tank too, he's proving a point at the moment.

He's on 150k a week mate. Mata was signed on a 60k per week contract.

Why would they keep Lampard when they could feasibly sign two Mata quality players for lower wages ?
