But yeh, It had been no secret that £18m was being banded around, how typical of Everton to throw in a cheeky/ridiculous bid of £11.8m :unsure:

Johnsons price was always going to be around 10 million and fulham put in an offer of 5 and theyre looking likely to get him now, just the way it works.
 
Am I the only person who thinks that the reason we bid so low is so that Everton fans reading the Echo will say 'oh we're 7 million short....hey if we sell AJ we'll be able to afford him!!!'

I'm sorry but we have way more available than that. Any excuse to force him out the door.
 
After watching today's match against Benfica I paid special attention to the players and manager reactions.

The manager said Moutinho is in his plans for the season. He hasn't heard Moutinho's words but read them in the papers and still he said he has no opinion on what he said. He simply stated that Moutinho is one of 24 players he requested for this season squad. And that was it. Didn't bother to explain why didn't the player got on the pitch today, but probably it was to prevent any sort of abuse from the fans.

Caneira said that Moutinho is a grown up and he knows what he wants. That fact didn't change a bit because even if the deal won't go through he'll still be the team captain and will still be very much appreciated by all players. Top class remarks, I'd say.

News came out stating that Moutinho was ruled out of the match due to injury. (don't know if it's true or not, though).
 

I'm quite confident we'll get him to be honest. He wants out and we want him. If we pay the price we'll get the player really. Unless someone hijacks it we'll be fine.

Anything over 25 million Euros though I wouldn't pay, if they want that then we'll move on and look at other players. 23 million would be a good price.

No sorry, didnt word it very well. I just meant that Everton have started with a low bid in the same way Fulham did. So us bidding 11.8 million for Moutinho means nothing considering Fulham seem to be doubling their original offer for Johnson.

Cant wait for the unveiling if he signs :D. Do you think we will have a big presentation were all the fans go into the stadium like the barcodes did with Owen and like they do in Spain?

IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!

Moutinho has signed.....for Chelsea.

27.5M € he is officially the most expensive sold player ever by Sporting, breaking the previous record held by Nani who was sold for 25.5M €.
