Seamus Coleman

He was worse than Hibbert in his marking tonight, The oppositions player was hugging the line on the left, and Coleman was looking at the ball standing in the middle of the pitch.

Going forward he was great though, thought Neville being in DM was benefiting the both of them, as if Coleman did attack Neville could hang back abit and cover.

The only time he's been effective at right-back was at Blackpool, when they offered the same kind of rigorous defence you'd expect from an apprentice in Legal Aid. He's now a decent bench option and I've an ominous feeling this'll be the high-point of his career.

Thought he came across brilliantly in his interview. I've had my doubts about him in the past (certainly at right mid) but at right back, he's looking a decent player. From an attacking point of view, part of me would love to see him start 4 or 5 games and see what happens, but I think Hibbo's done enough to lay claim to the position for now. I love his attitude, though. He's going to be a useful squad player at least.

Great post.

"Maybe we should've looked to put Seamus to right back"
-Moyes

omg Moyes actually considered putting Coleman at right back in a premier league game for more than 5 minutes. Progress! I honestly think that Moyes will give Coleman a run at right back this year. :)

Still worry about him defensively, hope that aspect of his game has been improved in the past year as it didn't look good enough on the few occasions i saw him play at RB in the past. He could be a tremendous asset for us in hat position with the way we play (wide mids tucking in), and I think he is far better moving forward onto the ball.

Excellent from him. Up against a tough team away and did well throughout. Him and Mirallas could be exciting with time to build a relationship.

Come on Davey, give the lad a real chance.

I loved the way he linked up with the Belgy. Both are quick and direct. He played well today and hopefully he stays there against Leeds. We have 3 or 4 games against fairly pants teams to bed him in

Done a lot of good work today. He has to be given his chance at RB. Hibbert and Neville are hardly immovable from that position and shouldn't be considered for a team looking to break into the top 5 or 6. If he cant get the nod from Moyes ahead of those two there's something wrong somewhere.
