Keepers- We need a good back up

Defence- your probably right, were ok their at the mo.

Midfield- we need a DM that will cost 8-10m+ a quality Am (arshavin, moutinho) that will cost 15m+ also another good rw or lw no need for both.

Forward- is Aj,vaughn an big vic good enough???

A few injurys last year nearly killed us off. If the yak gets crocked were would the goals come from. The bets teams have two good player for each position.

Why do we need a backup keeper? when by doing that we are going to destroy what potential we already have with Ruddy. People are talking about Ruddy in glowing terms, he's got a great future ahead of him. I see no point in buying a journeyman goalie when we have a decent enough keeper in the making there.

I agree that we need a DM. I don't believe we need an attacking midfielder as much as you think. And I don't think we need to replace Pienaar or Arteta.

And yes I think the strikers we have at the club are good enough to get us 4th.

I'd say yes. The [Poor language removed] do well and all they've only got Torres that's worth anythin - Crouch is going, and Voronin is a nobody compared to anything we've got IMO.

If the rumours are true - Manny maybe coming for £6mill, which is great business leaving room for more than enough for quality players in positions we need filling.

EDIT -

Phil McCunty has an article about Arshavin - http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/euro2008/2008/06/arshavin_looks_premier_league.html

Says he'd never come to us, but Newcastle and Man City could be in with more of a shout

Well this is what annoys me. And its been annoying me now for years. People complaining about numbers in our squad. Jesus H we got to 4th with a threadbare squad, we have done 5th last season with an apparant threadbare squad. I would rather have our problem than the RS constant tinkering with a squad. You know what I mean???

You seem to be missing the blindingly obvious point. That with a bigger and better squad we could and probably would of finished even higher than that.

Both last year and when we finished 5th you cant deny that we limped over the finish line with our form in the first half of the season being mainly responsible for our final position.

Then injuries and fatigue kicked in and had an effect. Having a larger squad would hopefully combat that. So we dont resort to playing defenders in midfield!

on the other hand, the increase in overall quality of the players we should have would give moyes far more scope to change formations and strategies and still be highly effective.

Rather than in the past, when those enforced changes in formation etc only papered over the cracks until our first choice team/formation was on the pitch.

We have never been that dangerous with any formation other than one based on a 4-5-1 setup.

With a higher quality squad, (if not higher in quantity) we could be more effective and dangerous with a wider range of tactics, to cover for the suspensions and injuries etc unless it gets ridiculous.

Completely agree with everything just written here, I'm amazed that Pienaar gets axed in all those formations with Arshavin in. Pienaar was awesome last season his pinpoint crossing was a great weapon going forward and he was very busy tracking back harrying and doing a lot of the uglier side of being a wide midfielder. The likes of Ronaldo and co don't put the shift in that Pienaar does I'm not saying Pienaar is better then Ronaldo but I feel alot of his skill goes appreciated at times.

I also agree with the whole Ruddy statement, I've been browsing some of the stockport forums, where he has been on loan this season and they are giving him rave reviews. They have compared him to Wayne Hennessey, who they have also had on loan and they think that Ruddy is a better all round keeper.

couldnt agree more about pienaar, ive said it before in other threads, he was our no.1 assist maker last season.

For me he's our most important midfielder creatively, and thats above arteta!

similiar amount of games last year pienaar got 4-5 more assists.

only once, in the '06-'07 season has arteta got as many assists as pienaar did last season!

Thats a great post signings or ypung players coming into the team have to be taken into account as to the options they offer a manager in terms of varience of team selection, tactics, style of play and also the ability to change each during the match based on subsitutions.

We tend to think of signings as fitting sstraght into the starting elevan, but offering a manger an ability to change a game, or pick a particualr team for the style of the opposition is vital!

well after the hoolend game its down to the board are we a sellable club or not!!

we need this arshavin kid!!

and it could turn us either way i think!

we get him moyes stays and we kick on!

we dont and moyes could go and well god knows!!

come on kenwright get them balls out and punch with the big boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's astonishing. He's amazing.

I still say we should try to get him... let Moyes speak to him and evangelise about the club's ambition.

We probably wouldn't succeed, I can see the top table wanting him now.. but we should try like we've never tried before.

Damn...i was hoping he would play [Poor language removed] tonight...ahwell, but still hoping that Gaz is correct...
