What position gets Europe?

I get confused looking at all the different permutations. The only thing that is important really is that Everton win all 3 of their remaining games and then they might have a chance. No game is easy but we don't play any of the bigger teams and all 3 games are winnable. I will be disappointed if we don't after only winning once in the last 6. The fans in particular deserve a strong and happy end to the season.

Basically if we're not at least 8th we won't be in Europe.

spurs newcastle forest chelsea could all spend and improve next year if all in the league, got to take the chance while its there
Exactly. I expected those 4 to finish above us, while we competed within the top 10. As things stand, we may be usurped by Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford at least.

Win against Palace and I'll be confident we finish the season ahead of Brentford and Chelsea.

Fulham could do us a favour by halting Bournemouth today.

With everybody's final two fixtures, we really should be looking to take it to the last day for an almighty potential Champions League (that would come later dependent on Villa) / Europa League / Conference League shootout.

In any case, it has to start with a win this weekend. Fail to defeat a Palace side openly on the beach ahead of a European final is unthinkable and completely unacceptable with what's on offer for us.

I'd wrote it off after West Ham.

Brentford's fixture list gives some hope.

Applying some widly optimistic predictions;

7th Brighton - 6 points
Wolves H - WIN
Leeds A - LOSS
Man Utd H - WIN
56PTS

8th Everton - 6 points

Palace A - WIN
Sunderland H - WIN
Spurs A - LOSS
54PTS

9th Brentford - 1 point

Man City A - LOSS
Palace H - DRAW
Liverpool A - LOSS
52PTS

10th Chelsea - 4 points

Liverpool A - LOSS
Spurs H - WIN
Sunderland A - DRAW
52PTS
I could see Brighton getting a point at Leeds but losing to United so 54 points.
Brentford may well lose to Liverpool and City but will beat Palace so 54 points.
I agree with Chelsea on 52.

That leaves Everton. If you're right ( and you may well be) we would be on 54 points as well as Brighton and Brentford and probably miss out on goal difference.
I suspect that we will need a minimum of 7 points and even that might not be enough.

Watch Bournemouth cope with it just fine, and us needing another decade to get past them in the league.
Can't see Bournemouth qualifying for any European competition tbh, if they somehow pulled off Champions League qualification, there league form would suffer for it, need a few season too build up a good enough squad too cope with both.

Yeah, while I believe we are not good enough to do what is required to make Europe, if you start the season right now we have a doable task: win at a half-cocked Palace, beat newly-promoted Sunlun, and win at relegation-haunted or on-the-beach Spurs.

Nine points are attainable. But you have to be good enough to do that - and we haven't been. So, I wouldn't be too hopeful.

A defeat tomorrow and I'd honestly be looking for a new manager Monday morning.

Fulham v Bournemouth - Draw possibly the best result for us, but I Think it might be more sensible for us to want Fulham to lose. Unlikely we catch Bournemouth.
