The only reason there are 9 teams this year, is because Spurs finished outside the European spots.

Itll happen again this year if Forest win the Europa/Palace Conference

Currently, I think the only guarantee (even though not mathematically guaranteed at this point) is that there is 1 extra league place as Arsenal and Man City will both be in top 4 and one of them will win EFL cup.

So conference league position will be 6th as it stands.

Effectively, we need English clubs to do well in Europe and one of the top 4 to also win fa cup format to drop to 7/8.

It wasn't 8th last season even though Newcastle won league cup and then finished in CL places.

So how does it work for 8th this season given we are a long way off knowing who the FA Cup finalists will be?
