2025/26 David Moyes

I swear there's a few in this thread that punched the air and screamed get in when Doku's shot went in lol.
This is a lie that gets trotted out every time we drop points. Show me one post from last night that is anything other than massive disappointment. You might not like or agree with other peoples opinions on a variety of subjects but there isn't a soul on here that doesn't want success for this football club. We just disagree on how it is achieved.

Wait, why aren't we getting European football? So close to "getting it".
The last three games conceding last minute goals have just about put paid to any chance we had. Each one down to defensive errors which I'm sure will be put down to Moyes. Obviously not the players involved.

…..currently sitting 10th but comparing our standing with the teams above at the end of last season we’re;

26 points closer to RS
same distance behind City
8 points closer to Villa
4 points closer to Bournemouth
5 points closer to Brentford
11 points closer to Brighton
21 points closer to Chelsea

Arsenal are 2 points further away and United the only other team currently in the top 10 to have a greater gap to us than last season. Either that shows progression or i’ve just wasted 10mins of my life 🙄

Or, maybe, JUUUUST maybe, having 8 players play more than 75% of all minutes is a terrible use of your squad and having a terrified mentality against all teams is a crap way to manage? Maybe just throwing on players that have barely had a sniff of getting on the pitch in high leverage situations is a bad way to absolve yourself of any blame when they might make a mistake? Maybe the lack of getting European football is on the manager?

….really good point, was thinking about all the City fans blaming Guardiola for the Guehi back pass.

I've got a feeling that Iraola and Glasner will have better options than us, but I too would be very happy with either of them.

Frank is an interesting one because he was who I wanted us to get before we re-hired Moyes. But his time at Spurs makes me ask 2 questions, (1) can he handle being at a club with expectations? and (2) was everything at Brentford just set up nicely for him? And can he have the same impact without that kind of club structure around him?

Spurs is an asylum. I wouldn't place too much emphasis on that spell there.

Would much rather have Iraola or Glasner though. Even the lad at Brighton.

What are you blethering on about? Nobody has said anything you just posted apart from the first sentence. I also have no idea why you are bringing Graham Potter (or maybe it's Harry you are talking about) into this as no rational human being has suggested him for over a year.

Once again, you said nobody better than Moyes would come here because they would want European football as a minimum starting point. I said that was nonsense and used the example of Europa League winning manager Oliver Glasner joining bottom half, not in Europe Crystal Palace as evidence that that was nonsense. I'll give you another one since you don't rate Glasner for some reason, Unai Emery, multi-time Europa League winner, joined mid-table Aston Villa (at the time) who were not in Europe when he joined. So, do you want to address that or do you want to make something up about Pep, or Simeone, or Luis Enrique that nobody has said?
The manager profile I quoted that we need to take us to the next level is the Spanish waiter's.
Glasner has won trophies ,as had Koeman, Ancelotti,Martínez and Silva.
It's not about what a manager has done before it's what can be done with this rag tag bunch.
Look at the positions that need to be sorted out and the limited budget we'll probably have this Summer window. I'd love nothing better than to see us playing expansive front foot football but it's going to take a few windows to put a squad together and Moyes for me is the sensible option for the next two at least.

Oh lighten up. Its a joke. A bit like this thread.

You keep overlooking my point about a realistic target. The same as players, managers are drawn to the chance of European football. We don't offer that so the fantasy football names being bandied about just aren't going to come.
Sorry mate but you are wrong on the Manager/Player draw, older Managers coming to the end of there career that have already tasted europe will more like be drawn to a job with Europe already on the cards, but most Managers ambitions are being the man that brings that to a club. They want to test themselves and it's soley there job to do it. A player has a younger shelf life and you are walking into a club with a squad of players to rely on, not just you or your own ability.

We as a club have alot to offer a manager to achieve that, at the moment we haven't got a squad of players to have the same appeal to certain other players.
