People seem to forget, half of what jack does in slowing the game down is with the idea of a progressive fullback going beyond him...

Right now we very rarely have that, so when teams double and triple up on him it goes nowhere....

2 proper attacking fullbacks and a purple patch beto/competent striker would transform our attacking threat

You can't mark grealish and illy out the game when it leaves space for pacey dangerous fullbacks to create from

He was great at the start of the season too
Yeah, this is just some strange revisionism. Ndiaye was great at the beginning of the season when he was playing on the right and Grealish on the left. That stretch where Ndiaye "struggled" because he didnt score for a bit? We won 4 of those 6 matches, the team was playing quite well. Hes scored exactly 1 goal as LW this season, that last one.

The real reason Ndiaye is looking more dangerous is probably because hes now getting some rest after a month of AFCON and then Ramadan. People arent machines.

Hes not BAD on the right. But he's definitely not as dangerous as he can be from the left. You dont need stats to show that, its apparent by watching the games and judging with the ol' eyeballs.

Well, what constitutes dangerous? If its not scoring or assisting, is it helping us win matches? Id suggest its helping the team win, and then end product. Hes played just as well on the right as the left, and recency bias seems to just be looking at the last 3 matches, which are nowhere near enough to tell for the very reasons I mentioned.

Personally I think his best position is actually in the middle behind the striker, but there does not appear to be any fall off with him playing across the front as some are suggesting.

i agree but turning our nose up over grealish to get someone who is bound to be not as talented just feels mad
We already have someone and he is better in Ndiaye, that's who should be playing on the left, its his best position and he clearly thrives when he plays there. Paying large sums of money for 31 year olds just shows we really haven't learnt anything when it comes to recruitment, especially one who is coming off the back of serious injury. Said the other day there is just no obvious way of doing a deal for Grealish where it doesn't look a bit 💩for us.

Ndiaye is world class. No doubt. And his next few years he will be entering his prime. You play him in his favourite position and build around him. For me that means we dont sign 31 year old Grealish as the money involved will be silly and better spent on other positions
