2025/26 David Moyes

I think we have the foundation for building for the future over the next 18 months or so..

Brathwaite, O'Brien, Asnou, Harrison, KDH, Rohl, Dibling, Ndiaye, Barry etc etc.. a couple more decent signings and I like where we are heading!

However. Moyes is not that man to take us forward I don't think any more. It pains me to say it, but he's outdated now.. dinosaur tactics.

Sets the team up with no aggression or intensity at home. Way too happy to let the opposition dictate the game. No idea what we are trying to do at the start of these games
Jekyll and Hyde side. No idea why. No rhyme or reason to it. Well, besides the 'eye' sound here. Some games we seem to turn up in and wait for the opposition to play before we start. The spurs and newcastle games being examples, as we had the stuffing knocked out of us before we'd woken up.

…..did really well with the HT tactical change as we were getting overrun and it stemmed the flow. Problem is, with Patterson and Mykolenko as WBs it didn’t make us any more effective from an attacking perspective.

He could’ve gone Dibling and Aznou but that was a huge defensive risk but he did eventually gamble on Dibling and it could’ve brought us a win had he done better when put in.

Regardless, I thought his game management was proactive enough, maybe he could’ve gone to a back 3 earlier, perhaps Aznou for Mykolenko.
Agreed, legs against bogle was required. Aznou could have shut that path for them down and not exposed Myko quite how we allowed. By that I mean Aznou for McNeil because they cut Myko out repeatedly 'cos he was isolated vs two regular. They set up specific to this weakness, and really it shouldn't have taken to HT to realise and change.

Yes going nowhere with Moyes
He’s more scared of loosing than trying to win

leeds/Farke called his bluff. 3 at the back with two wing backs made space difficult to find. When they were in possession a CB would step up from defence into midfield and the wingback (bogle) would be on the move. We couldn't cope with this as their pattern of play was to overlap vs Myko. How was this calling Moyes bluff? We couldn't get the ball through to Barry often enough to isolate vs 1 CB, he got a couple of half chances but we couldn't do regular enough. They defended from the front, and looked to press as quick as they could, it meant the defender stepping out of defence releasing bogle just slotted back into shape when we had possession. We don't have enough guile to break a side sitting deep with a layer of protection in midfield, down. The space leeds left behind the wingbacks needed attacking and dragging a CB across to cover - meaning space in the box for a cross to be aimed at one of ours. We didn't get hold of that idea till late, and we don't have anything at LB or RB to support a winger looking for that play. Also McNeil isn't quick enough to expose a wingback or a covering CB.
Moyes set up to impose our game on them, that didn't work, they were sharper and hungrier and got on the front foot.
So he matched them up at HT and we got back into the game from there, but were fighting uphill because we were already a goal down.

(I called the changing a winning side shout in the match thread btw)

We got D-Hall back and Branthwaite. Gana and Illy back to. Shame Grealish is out. We got a lesson last night out of Cal-Lewin about the lone striker and working his socks off. Granted he should have scored, but we know all about that.

We should be this, that and the other, should be beating these, those and them. etc. Our quality is wafer thin, and we're closer to an average side than we are to a quality one. We still have the remnants of benitez signings in the starting eleven. It's no coincidence the better Moyes sides with us were built on Coleman and Baines in the fullback slots. Until we have a fully functioning starting eleven all fit we can all gnash our teeth and demand sackings and complain about poor games. What next, another survival expert to keep us just about alive in the PL?

First half was bad last night, it got changed and we were better and earned a point. It aint perfect but I'm glad it wasn't a loss. DCL scores and we were finished yesterday, no doubt!
Good summary. I think the idea was for McNeil to come a bit more central and help out but it never really worked. Back to the drawing board for the next home game.

It's not even systems or formations that are the problem at home. It's the lack of intensity and energy when we start these home matches. The mentality is all wrong and it looks like we are happy to stand off opponents and let them dictate the game. And the other major problem is the lack of quality at full back. We can't sustain attacks or pressure because our full backs aren't giving options in possession and aren't good at pressing up the pitch.

Will do friend. Though do love some analytical feedback rather than lashing out.
Don't take it personal, Nymz is occasionally a bit prickly, but is a good pear most of the time. It's probably your idea of playing Armstrong at LW that brought some chuckles.
pickford
patterson j'o'b branthwaite myko
ndiaye gana garner armstrong aznou
barry

We needed legs last night, especially down their right side, they looked to and did expose and overload myko repeatedly, once they got a sniff they kept going. we didn't react quick enough. Maybe Moyes was waiting for the side to click into gear and start showing some willing to take the fight to leeds. It didn't happen first half. We faced them and got back into it eventually. leeds score a second like they should have and we lose last night without so much as a whimper. Not happy about the game but glad of the point.

We’ve not had any pace in the side since Kanchelskis.

We’ve been going for a certain type of player in the market to suit Moyes or Dyche’s styles of football

Our play is so predictable and based on either wearing teams down with repetitive play or by getting XI behind the ball and hoping to nick one.

Oh for a bit of pace and unpredictable attacking threat.

He has done very well moving us away from relegation but i cant wait to see the back of him. (Hopefully this summer)

He is a proper underdog manager, he loves it as he cant lose but when he has to take the game to the opposition he is completely clueless, hence why our home form is so poor.

4 times he has had the opportunity to win a home game against no one special that would put us right in the mix and he has failed.
He cant get the team to start well and then we are constantly chasing the game at home, yet again it was barely a 45 minute performance.
Thats on him.

Leaving KDH off the team sheet..
Starting KDH after just returning from injury.

It was always going to be one of those responses..

Stop defending the dinosaur.
You can't school anyone with a 1-1 draw.

He schooled Moyes so much that he had to mirror Farke's set up...then Farke outsmarted him again when Everton were looking for the winner by changing shape to see out the game for a draw.

Stop defending the dinosaur.
