I just find it very naive to think that at a time where everyone looks for a number 9 and when it was maybe 8-10 strikers in the league that delivered more than OK last season, Everton will have two. The league is full of strikers that have shown more promise and talent than Barry that fails to deliver.Dont agree is times when the first choice will have a dip in form then is up to the other cf to come in and given a chance. I think will see a different everton because this window will be mainly about the attackers. So will be more chances created than what we have seen, with barry looks to have good movement and looks to get on the end of things.
Mateta and Nkethia, Welbeck and Ferguson, Wood and Awoniyi, Wissa and Igor Thiago, Delap and Hirst. So often we see clubs with strikers of similar quality. When one of them has a great season, the other one becomes a non-factor. It's the nature of football. And even more so for clubs that doesn't play in Europe.
I am also surprised by people expecting great things when Moyes is recruiting a striker. At has always been a problem for him. Pretty much all of them fail to match the scoring ratio from previous clubs.
The three most successful number nines in a Moyes team the last decade is Marko Arnautovic, Michael Antonio and Jarred Bowen. None of them was signed as a 9 but ended up playing there due to poor recruitment.
