Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

A huge desperate gamble after failing a medical at Ipswich at the start of the season
that unfortunately didn't pay off with a loan position wasted.

Wish him well and hope he can try and rebuild his career in the future.
Yeah was a risk a positive was how they structured the deal not paying till was fit. I do think has talent just not a risk we can make at that price.
Bit surprised we offered Young reduced terms. He’s played fairly regularly and I would be surprised if his salary was that high. Would thought we would have just offered a 12 month extension.
Was on 40 , is a sensible move by the club imo is a risk becuase so many players leaving but wages here have been to high

Is it just possible that we don’t sign a striker?

Keep Beto and Dom and spend big on a quality, goalscoring right winger?
Both those two positions and RB need quality starting options brought in promptly.

That will be the measure of wether we do good business before next season starts.

Beto has 8 and Don has 3 in the league thats 11 coming from the no 9 position, i guess if you improve players around them would they get better and hit 15 from that position - not unreasonable. I still think one goes and another comes in myself.

When you analyse goals scoring in the squad, its interesting looking at positions of goals and frequency,

In the league:

No. 9: 11 gaols

Wide Left (Ily): 9 goals

Wide right (Harrison/Lindstorm): 1 goal

No. 10: McNeill/The Duke/Charly: 8.

Its clear the areas we need to improve goals scoring in the attacking unit.

You want to be scoring 60 goals with a good defence and 65 + without if you have aspirations for Europe.

Think even if did both stay can still see ankther striker coming in, chermitti cant have ankther season on the bench. Also not even sure if moyes rates him, have said before could see a striker who can also play out wide come in

We’ve been desperate for a competent, occasional goal scoring right wing for what feels like a decade.

Sick of us buying/loaning left wingers and sticking them on the right.

Why do people keep obsessing with Delap. He hasn't even been that good this season. His goal ratio to minutes is worse than Beto. He even has a worse goals to minutes than fellow Ipswich striker George Hirst who has 0.47, Beto has 0.5 and delap has 0.42. I get that he's younger but a lot of it is just hype.

I trust Moyes to find some better option abroad or elsewhere.
He's young, a physical beast and a goalscorer. He's shone in a poor Ipswich side, holds the ball up, runs the channels, excellent on the press, has an edge and has a finishing confidence we've not seen at Everton for many years.

At £30m if the option presents it is an absolute no-brainer for someone who should be our ideal #9

Agreed mate, i think we've a lot to decide, do we want a playmaking no 10, or an alethic hybrid one like Soucek, do we actually want wingers or inside forwards, Illy for example isnt a winger in my opinion hes an inside forward, so if yu have a tricky inside forward on the left what do yu want on the right, pace.....trickery, someone who can hold the ball up the pitch. Then how full backs compliment that is key, do you want your width to come full backs and allow your wide players to come inside, do you want one attacking and your second more defensive or do you want your full back to just defend.

The hypothesis has to be how do you get an additional 20+ goals into this team. That's our aim.

Its the blend and complimenting of all the possibilities above also depending on what you decide.

I guess its also if you bring new players in what happens to others, so if you play Illy, buy a right winger and a new 10 - what happens to McNeill and Charley, if you bring in a new left full what happens to Myko. Centre midfielder, what happens to Garner etc.

A lot of decision's to be made for me, but there needs to be a plan for how its all going to compliment, balance and form a squad.
