It is depressingly difficult to pull away from the bottom once down there. Since Dyche came in we have secured 11 points from 8 games which is creditable but we remain just two points from the drop. I am more than hopeful we can stay up but we will be in the mix right until the end I imagine, which is not pleasant. One thing is certain, if we persevered with Lampard we would have been dead and buried
That's just a function of how even 9 teams are. By keeping faith in Lampard after November, we were always risking a season of disaster. By waiting until way past replacement time to bring in Dyche, we effectively guaranteed we'd be, at best, in a fight for survival until the death.

I take some comfort in the fact that there are 9 clubs in this mix. If we cannot finish at least 6th in that league, who's really complaining about going down?

I’d say last year was far more dangerous. At the point after 28 games we’d lost 5 out the last 6 and would then lose again at Burnley. The fixtures then read Chelsea United Leicester (x2) Liverpool Watford Brentford Palace.

I’m not sure too many fans would have had us down for 14 points from those games given we’d just lost 6 out of 7 and given Burnley 3 points.
Before that run I predicted we’d stay up on 42 points, which would’ve been spot on if the ref didn’t goose us in the Brentford game

It’ll be interesting to see if any other clubs pull the trigger on their manager with the international break, it’s now or never you would think

such an important point yesterday. this year any of 9 teams can go down. maybe 1 or 2 or even 3 teams can pull out of it prior to the last couple of games. but 6 will be involved on last day. it's going to be crazy.

It will go right down to the wire, with most if not all of the currently relegation threatened clubs being at risk of relegation in the last game of the season.

I don’t like the look of our last 4 games tbh.

The more I think about the other teams starting to drop, and our moderately resurgent form, the more angry I get at the decision not to make the managerial change after Bournemouth - it’s all ‘ifs and buts’ but I think we’d be a considerable number of points better off

Gives me some confidence that we have Bournemouth at home last game. I just think if we had to win that to stay up we’d find a way. The way this season is going there’s a good likelihood that a few teams will be within 3 points of safety on the last day. Hopefully we can wrap it up before then but I wouldn’t want an away game as a must win on the last day.

They are well and truly in this now as are Palace & Forest.

Probs wouldn't think that a few weeks ago.
I suspect Palace will finish a lot lower but will just about scrape relegation on account of their early season form….I think they’ll stop to rot to some degree soon and it won’t take a big ppg to see them home
