Everton have rejected a bid from Serie A side Lazio for Tim Iroegbunam.
The Italian outfit reportedly made an approach for the 22-year-old, but did not meet Everton’s valuation.
However, the report doesn’t state how much was tabled for the young midfielder.
The Serie A side may return with a second bid before the window closes this week.
Iroegbunam has featured in 17 league games this season, making 11 starts, with a further two in the League Cup.
Idrissa Gueye’s absence due to a three-game ban, followed by a six-week spell at AFCON, saw Tim feature heavily in recent months.
The 22-year-old put in some superb performances, particularly against Bournemouth and Arsenal.
However, there were equally some dire displays, such as the 4-1 home defeat to Newcastle.
SHOULD EVERTON KEEP IROEGBUNAM, OR CASH IN SHOULD AN IMPROVED BID ARRIVE?
He’s got potential, but needs to find consistency, and could do with learning to release the ball quicker.
Indeed, the midfielder has a habit of taking one touch too many, but this should develop with experience.
Iroegbunam isn’t a player I’d be looking to cash in on during this window. With players returning to the squad, we’ve got options in midfield once more.
However, recent weeks have shown us how quickly this can change and the youngster has begun to establish himself as a valuable member of the squad.
Moyes is yet to spend this month, and may be looking to raise some capital to reinvest.
Should Lazio return with an improved offer, it’ll be interesting to see if Everton hold firm, or flog the former Villa player.
