Having been away for the best part of two weeks there has been ample time to consider ones feelings towards Gylfi Sigurdsson, slightly outside of the bubble that is Everton on social media. I had felt on believing it would be completed by the time...
Yessar Daou £50m would get us Mahrez
David McCall Look at the stats how can anyone say he isnt worth the money! Consistently assisting an scoring against the big boys when we sold someone for double that who done a harry houdini impression everytime we played a decent team! Sigurdsson would improve us so much! We ain't struggling for cash! Its quality not quantity! If he came an we got in the top 4 his fee would be more than justified! If we dont sign him i dont think we will have the edge when it comes to the games that count against the teams around us!
Brian Morris Id pay 50 mill. Its the going rate these days. Football has gone mad. We're after 50 mill for Barkley who isnt as productive as Sigurdsson. Neymar potentially going to PSG for over 200 million.
Jamie Goldsmith No. Not going to bring anything we don't already have at the club in midfield.
Colin Byford Yes easy decision one of the best most consistent midfielders for the last 3 years. If he was at a bigger club than Swansea (no disrespect to them) this wouldn't even be a question.
Darren Kelly U can't pay 50 mill for a midfielder who may or may not get u 15 goals that money has to be spent on a number 10 a striker. We have enough midfielders but we have nobody to feed the ball to unless we start shooting outside the box. At 28 mill he was ok to buy at 50 million pounds please buy a striker. Rooney will do just as good a job, klassen can score buy a striker
Nik Dale A good player, but £50 million?? Didn't he cost Spurs 'only' £8.8million & it didn't work out. I feel Swansea is his spiritual home. Also, where will he play, Rooney, Barkley, Klaassen, Calvert-Lewin? Mirallas? all play a similarish position?
Dean Henderson I've always rated him, he always goes in my fantasy teams, we need a set piece specialist and a proper no.10. 50 mil is high but thats the market right now. BUT we MUST get a proven striker to replace Rom and that is more important than Gylfi right now.
Oliver Crawley Sigurdsson would have zero impact on ross. Anyone who watched Efc saw after Schneiderlin signed that we played in a 3 with Gana and Davies whilst Barkley played wider in a front 3. Sigurdsson is likely to play ahead of two sitters with a front 3 (possibly including Barkley) playing ahead of him. Competition is fierce with a front 3/choice of Barkley Klassen Bolasie Mirallas Rooney Ramirez Lookman Sigurdsson? Giroud? DCL Lennon Dowell.....enjoy!
Jeff Whur NO! I think he's over rated and compared to others in his position he's not worth £50 million even in today's crazy market. I think at best £20 million. I would personally, this seems controversial these days amount Evertonians, keep Barkley and make him a better offer to stay. I think Ross is a better more skilled player and it be a mistake to let him go and waste £50million on Gylfi. Just my opinion I know most don't agree but that's football
Darren Roach Get him, but it's dragging on and on. Should be old school of let's meet in the middle now between 50 and the 2nd offer at 43,,,so 46.5 and add ons if needed. Surely that will get it done.
Michael Jansen It's a tough one at that price, but I can't argue with the fact that his attitude, work rate, and skill set are right for us.
Could work out very well, especially if we make a run past group stages in the Europa.
Derek Etid Bithell 50 mill seems a lot but the way prices are today 40 to 80 mill is for that level of player below great and world class players it's gone crazy but I'd sign him all day I think he's so underrated with a clever footballing brain plus can score
Jason Thomas Feel like the wool is being pulled over our eyes yet again... we're only spending the money we've gained from sales and we havnt made any moves since we gained money the lukaku money and think we're waiting for barkley money until we buy again.
Get siggy signed then go after Michy Batshuayi that kid is class
Kevin Walker I'd rather get Thorgan Hazard or Kerem Dermibay and spend big big on a top top striker. Creatively we have Klaasen, Rooney & Dowell. We need someone to put the chances away....
Phil Woolsey 50million over 5 years is 10million a year. A great investment into our club.
Additionally buy VVD to partner Keane and blend the youngster in and around our team would, in my opinion be successful for years to come.
Roy Mullings Wish I shared your faith , Mr B, (spurs) been there so long only for the wheels to come off, the big boys come along splashing out their money like confetti turning the players head, bring in a salary cap, teams only allowed to spend so much per season , team caught breaking these rules get deducted 21 points.
Gary Edwards His stats at Swansea are deceiving s they're practically a one man team. He's good, but not 50m good, regardless of how inflated the market is. A tall, mobile CF is a greater priority
John Parker Everyone needs to forget the price tag, it is totally irrelevant! It's not our money, if the board, manger etc want to spend the money than thats up to them.
The question is, Is he good enough? Yes yes yes of course he is!
Baz Daly We need a 10 more than anything else....he's the best available....buy him....whatever it costs....it doesn't matter what it costs...without a 10 we'll never get there....mahrez would be great obviously....but he's not the player we actually need...
Jim Ashall Can't believe people are saying it's to much to pay, like it's their money. Everton are no longer the poor boys of the Prem, we are in the game fellas so come on get the cash spent before someone else buys him!
Paul Corlett Shouldn't break the bank for him, but could be a fantastic signing for the right price... Should offer Barkley to Spurs for £50m and use the money for Sigurdson...
Pete Kulak Always makes me laugh when people say he's not worth this or not worth that. There's no baseline for a transfer fee and so many factors in it. He's not worth 50m compared to what?
Anthony McArdle Good article undermined by the mentioning of computer games being a factor in his analysis!
I'd love to see us loan Sanches, i think hes going for about 50 mil or a 2year loan spell, but united are in for him which is hard to say no to when you hesr mourinho blatantly buttering him up. I do think 50 mil is a lot for a 28 year old tbh. We need wingers though and sigurdsson can play on the wing it think...if we waive the large fee and put it down to balance as the man said then yes sigurdsson is an excellent purchase potentially
Michael Mcandrews We dont need him... we have rooney, klaassen and barkley if he stays that all play in that role. We need a winger and a striker that can score bags of goals.
