Ronald Koeman will allow Gerard Deulofeu to seek first team football away from Goodison Park this month and when asked about the future of Phil Jagielka Koeman said: &qout;I don’t know. It’s all about if there are offers for Jags&qout; Koeman: &qout;I spoke to Geri...
Reza Atashi A little sadness in saying this but we are moving up a level and Jags has been a great player for us, Gerri has potential but both deserve first team football so should be moved on. Sell Jags to Moyes who loves him and Gerri a loan move to Milan, then we see.
Kevin Jones I am against both. Jags is getting to the end but you just don't get rid of established clubmen, just like that. Deulofeu is so talented and has NEVER been utilised by EFC, it shits me!
Nicholas Bragg Jags been a fantastic servant but been in decline for 3 years..... I wish him all the best.
As for Geri.... I dont understand. Much better than Mirallas/Lennon etc.... Came on the other day and created a goal. Hes still young has a good pedigree he just needs a kick up the arse. But thats my opinion.
Colin Byford I do like Geri but don't understand the unconditional love shown to him -he doesn't do enough when he starts games- it'll probably be a loan deal and we'll see how he is then but it speak volumes that Koeman has bought lookman-same age, same position...
Barry Lambert Keep Gerri.Still a potential matchwinner as an impact sub.Jags can do a great job for many teams. Go away and enjoy regular first team football somewhere else and when you hang up your boots come home like Big Dunc. His service, experience and loyalty to our club should be rewarded in a coaching or mentoring capacity. He is Everton through and through.
Giles Smith Happy with both of these. Loan Delle out rather than sell (unless lucrative), still feels like the lad could be quality if he can manage 90 minutes a game at a decent level. Jags is a warrior but long past it.
Øyvind Bjørkavåg No worries, we already have a better center back in... Jagielka have been the right man for the club, but wait to see what we Get in before we complain..koeman is not messing around like martinez
Gary Ashworth I have a lot of respect for both of them. Jags has been a great captain, but he doesn't fit Koeman's criteria now and (sorry to say) he is starting to make some costly mistakes. Duelofeu is a really good player. He seems to do better in the training videos than he does on the pitch, but I want him to stay and learn from Koeman.
Paul Rogers No surprise. Neither has offered anything this season. Jags has been a bit of a liability giving away penalties and freekicks. Also gets booked every time he plays.
Wish them both well
Alan John Davies Said it before about geri he flatters to deceive Jags well we all get past it eventually.Great servant. Will always remember his equaliser at analfield.
Jim Blott Jags has gone. Lost a yard of pace which means too often late in the challenge turning tackles into fouls and in the box into penalties. I like Geri. I think he can play alongside Rom but Koeman picks the side and I do trust him.
Carl Roberts Jags has been a talisman for the club n a great player but he's made a few mistakes lately that have cost us, plus think he's a bit off the pace now so he'd b better at Sunderland than on the bench
Rob Cannon Why the fuck does he not get rid of kone and gibson they are useless!!! Jags has been a great servant to the club and he deserves to remain at the club to the end of the season! Geri has got bags of talent and just needs a kick up the arse!!! Keep him and offload lennon.
Christopher Bates I'd be inclined to keep Geri. For all his faults he can provide assists, especially to Rom with early deliveries. Jags we would need a replacement for, I'd keep him till the summer.
Kyle Marsh Gerri should never be aloud to leave he is better than Aaron lennon and bolasie is out for a year plus valencia is a loan deal and he's a striker understand getting rid of jags been a good servant but never been as great as everyone makes out distin carried him I thought and then stones, Williams is our leader now
Andrew John Harrison I can't believe we want to ship Geri out! In a couple of years when he is one of the worlds top players we will look pretty stupid for letting him leave!
Jags is also a tough one. But should only keep his place if he plays well. If not then someone else gets the slot. If that doesn't suit him then let him leave. If he is ok with that then keep him.
Lee Jones Maybe a loan spell where Geri gets game time is what he needs as he just doesn't look fit enough to play 90 minutes. He is a talent but you need to do the graft to match the talent. Jags has been a great sergeant but he looks like his days are numbered and has made too many mistakes this season. Needs to be replaced before we sell him though.
Howard Northover Koeman is there to build a squad capable of winning something, then coaching them to success. I would have hoped that the potential shown by Geri would've manifested itself in his game, but it hasn't. He's been given opportunities but he's more of an impact substitute; he seems to fade in matches, hence why he's being allowed to go elsewhere. Jagielka is just too slow now; a shame, but as we've asked Koeman to win something, rather than become sentimental and play happy families, so he's not as useful any more.
It is tough, but that is the way of it.
Sad to see them go, but that is the harsh reality.
Samii Hughes Not Geri!! Don't understand why Koeman doesn't rate him, he's much more creative than Mirallas, and he's improved so much since we first got him. Annoys me he doesn't start enough games!
Matthew Knezevic Del has an incredible upside to his game. If a loan spell and first team football is what it may take for Everton (Koeman) to realise his potential... so be it.
Paul Squires Jags time has come to move on. A great servant to the club.
Gerri I would like to stay but understand his work rate not as good as others ? But if these 2 players leaving then need good young players coming in ? Virgil and Redmond for me 💙👍
Abdul Cabdullahi Sad to hear about Gerri. Love him to death, but if the manager don't want him then I can't argue with him since he knows best. Maybe it would be good for him to be loaned out and getting recalled once he get used to playing games in and out. Jags is done, as Much as I appreciate him and consider him a pillar for us in the previous season, he should move on.
Stan Sheppard I really do love how ruthless RK is at turning the squad over but I still think Jags and Gerri are great guys who I will be sorry to see the back of.
Jags has been a great servant to this club. Will never forget his goal at anfield. A top guy who got unlucky with injuries in the past few years.
I wish Gerri would stay. Offers so much with assists and vision but maybe doesn't fit in to the managers plans.
John Paul Dale Sad to hear about jags, but he has been a fantastic player for us over the years and at a bargain price as well. I think time and injuries have caught up with him. Geri just needs a rocket up his arse or maybe a word from Ferguson or Unsworth in his ear, agree with most of the comments thou he doesn't seem to last more than a hour.
Daniel James O'Connor Letting them go could end up being one of the best or worst moves our club has made in recent times. And they definitely need to be replaced before you can consider getting rid. I don't care how ruthless you want to be.
I think Jags has been very poor this season but to say he's completely lost it and over the hill is a bit rushed imo. Davey Weir and Stubbsy didn't do a bad job for us when we finished 4th back in the day (And they were 35/36 years old). Though must admit, I never wanted Jagielka as captain. He doesn't inspire me at all. But his heart is in the right place and I don't think we have many candidates for the role currently. Barry and Williams are probably the best shouts. It's a shame the scouse lads aren't really leadership material. Barkley would have been perfect if he had a Gerrard-like mentality, but sadly I don't think he's got that in him.
Deulofeu on the other hand is a good young player, still only 22/23, with a lot of ability. Maybe it's the fact he can't seem to make a full 90 minutes, or perhaps he thinks he's not aggressive enough. I'm not sure but Ronald doesn't seem to rate him. Personally I like both players and would rather keep them both and focus on youth. But who knows.
TL;DR - I like both players and would rather not sell. But don't know what Koeman is thinking or looking for. Need to think carefully about this before doing something we might regret.
