Everton Midfielder Set for League One Loan Ahead of Transfer Deadline

Everton midfielder Tyler Onyango is set for a loan move to League One side Stockport County.

The 22-year-old was an unused substitute during last week’s 2-0 win over Mansfield Town in the League Cup. However, the academy graduate now looks set to spend the 2025/26 season at Edgeley Park.

Onyango spent the first half of last season on loan at The Hatters, but a hamstring ruled the youngster out, making just seven appearances during his brief spell.

The versatile 22-year-old, who has made four appearances for Everton, will hope to rebuild his stalled career after a series of injuries have derailed a promising start.

In January 2023, Onyango joined Duncan Ferguson at Forest Green Rovers, but returned to Merseyside after just three appearances due to sustaining a hamstring injury.

However, as per Alan Myers, who is outside Finch Farm reporting for Sky Sports, Onyango will once again complete a loan move ahead of tonight’s deadline.

IT COULD BE A BUSY EVENING AT FINCH FARM

Meanwhile, the Blues are reportedly looking at £20m Freiburg midfielder Merlin Rohl, with a medical taking place on Merseyside.

David Moyes is keen to add depth to his midfield options, with Idrissa Gueye set to be unavailable for around a month in December due to AFCON.

Rohl would be Everton’s ninth signing of the summer, with Moyes stating earlier in the window he wanted 10 incomings.

Harrison Armstrong meanwhile may follow Onyango on loan, with Preston North End the most likely destination.

No doubt Armstrong’s departure will rest on securing Rohl’s signature before tonight’s 7pm deadline for transfers.

Reports state that if a deal for Rohl can be in early enough, Moyes may pursue a last minute deal for a defender, though time is running out.

Indeed, it looks set to be a busy few hours at Finch Farm this evening.
