‘That’s a target’: Everton star states trophy ambition ahead of Mansfield Town cup clash

Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye has spoken of his ambition to win silverware with the Toffees.

David Moyes’ side welcome Mansfield Town to BMD this evening for the second round of the League Cup.

Speaking ahead of the tie against the League One side, Ndiaye stated that ending the trophy drought is a ‘target’ of his.

In a report by the Liverpool Echo, Ndiaye revealed that the ground move can positively impact the hunt for success.

He stated, “That’s a target. We’ve got a new stadium and obviously we want to change what’s been going on for the last few seasons. We want to change the way we do things and the way we think.

It’s good to think like that, to want to win trophies. Our target is to win trophies. I feel like we’ve always wanted to look forward. Obviously things can happen that you can’t control, but we’ve always tried to look forward.”

TOFFEES MUST TARGET SILVERWARE

I was three-years-old last time Everton tasted success back in 1995. Indeed, there is a whole generation of fans yet to see the Blues lift silverware.

Tonight’s fixture against lower league opposition presents the Blues with an opportunity to progress in the League Cup. The visitors will no doubt be up for it, but this is a game David Moyes’ side must win.

New signing Tyler Dibling could make his Everton debut, and will want to make an instant impact.

Ideally, Moyes starts with our strongest XI and we get a few goals in front early on in the game. The Toffees could then use the latter stages of the tie to give some fringe players minutes on the pitch.
