Everton have agreed a fee for Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling. The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Merseyside throughout the summer.
The Blues initially put in a £27m bid last month, which was rejected by the Saints. However, it was clear that Everton retained an interest in the teenager.
Indeed, it is now reported that Everton have agreed a £42m fee for Dibling. He could become Moyes’ eighth summer purchase.
The England U21 star scored twice in 33 Premier League games for Southampton last season. Indeed, he is highly rated and has been called a ‘younger but bigger Jack Grealish.’
Speaking with the Liverpool Echo, Southampton reporter Alfie House made the comparison between the two attackers.
He stated, “It will be interesting to see what sort of tactical demands Moyes puts on Dibling because (Russell) Martin really felt he had to be free, but it’s also good that Everton have starting players for him to act as an understudy to initially to take the pressure off.
Plus, he’s kind of a younger but bigger Jack Grealish, so watching the real one in training might be great for him.”
DIBLING COULD BE THE REAL DEAL
Dibling is on the verge of breaking Southampton’s record sale for a home-grown talent. Clearly, there is a lot of hype around the young player.
He would be an incredibly exciting addition to the squad. A real talent to nurture with the future in mind.
A creative, attacking-minded player, Dibling can play out wide or as a number 10. Watching him link up with Jack Grealish could be an interesting prospect.
Hopefully the deal can be wrapped up in time for Dibling to feature on Tuesday evening against Mansfield Town.
If it is completed in time, we could see the youngster announced during tomorrow’s game against Brighton.
Announcing such an exciting prospect during our first game at BMD – it would be quite a statement about the direction of the club.
