Report: Everton register interest in ‘exceptional’ Manchester United player Hannibal Mejbri

Everton have approached Manchester United over a move for 20-year-old midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

The ‘exceptional’ Tunisian international is highly rated at Old Trafford and is reportedly in the club’s long-term plans, however a loan deal is not being ruled out before the transfer deadline tomorrow.

La Liga side Sevilla are also reportedly interested in the midfielder who has made three Premier League appearances for Manchester United.

That is according to The Athletic, who report that Erik ten Hag sees Hannibal as a player who can make an impact this season, though a loan move remains a possibility.

The 20-year-old already has 24 international caps for Tunisia and had an impressive campaign on loan at Championship side Birmingham City last season.

While ten Hag rates the youngster, first team opportunities may be limited at Old Trafford so another season out on loan would make sense.

Hannibal Mejbri could cut his Premier League teeth at Everton

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund registered their interest in Mejbri earlier in the window though an impressive pre-season forced United to think twice about allowing the Tunisian to leave.

Newly promoted Luton Town also enquired about a loan deal for the midfield starlet, and it is believed United would prefer a loan deal to a Premier League club, should he depart this summer.

Technically gifted with a strong work ethic, Hannibal could add some bite to Everton’s midfield, possessing an aggressive style in the middle of the park.

However, with the Old Trafford club undecided on his future at this late stage of the window, it remains to be seen whether or not a deal can be struck before tomorrow’s deadline.

A lot could depend on United bringing in a midfielder, with Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat consistently linked with a move to Manchester throughout the summer.

Sean Dyche has made five additions to Everton’s squad so far this transfer window but his business may not be concluded yet.
