Danny Welbeck to Everton?

Everton are in pole position to sign Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck on a free transfer this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

The 28-year-old has been out since November after breaking his ankle against Sporting Lisbon, but is back in training and bagged a hat-trick in a training match last week.

Welbeck, who joined Arsenal from United for £18million in 2014 would prefer to stay in England and several Premier League clubs have reportedly expressed an interest, including West Ham, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Wolves.

But Standard Sport report they understand Everton are currently in pole position, with Welbeck keen on moving to a club with Champions League ambitions – not to mention an increase on his current £100,000-a-week salary…
