Everton are interested in signing Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles, according to the Guardian’s deputy news editor Ed Aarons.
Marco Silva is looking to find a new long-term partner in central defence for Michael Keane, with Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams nearing the end of their Goodison Park careers.
Everton would do very well to pull of this transfer, with Lascelles appearing to be off-limits with the Newcastle Chronicle reporting that Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is looking to build his squad around the 24-year-old.
Benitez said: “We don’t want to sell him. He was a key player for us last year and he has to be this year and for a long time to come in the future.
“The reality is that we don’t want to sell Jamaal. He is a key player for us and leader. We are happy with him.”
