Everton have registered an interest in the potential signing of Wigan Athletic’s young forward Callum Lang, according to multiple sources.
With Everton set to let go of a number of youngsters this summer, including David Henen, David Unsworth is on the look out for additions to his under 23 squad, and of them on the shortlist is Lang.
The Liverpool-born forward has been at the Latics since 2013 and played three times for the current League One Champions before he was sent out on loan to Morecambe for the 2017/18 campaign for more first team opportunities.
But it was at the Shrimps where he shone. The 19-year-old netted 10 goals in 30 appearances and was a key cog in Morecambe’s fight against relegation from the Football League.
Out of the top scoring teenagers in the top four English division, only Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon 15 strikes bettered Callum’s tally of 10.
Lang managed a goal every 143 minutes for Morecambe across the season, he won the EFL Young Player of the Month in December and at one point had the best goal-per-minute ratio across the English leagues.
