March GOT Player of the Month

And so March has been and gone and with it four games for the Blues that saw two wins and two losses, and Premier League football for next season ensured.

The loss at Turf Moor that saw Burnley complete a league double over the Blues saw Cenk Tosun open his goalscoring account and he followed that up with another against Brighton and a brace at Stoke, in a game played in poor conditions thanks to near blizzard snow flurries throughout the game.

Despite the results over Brighton and Stoke, the month ended sourly with the embarrassing home capitulation against champions elect Manchester City who bagged three and could easily have scored more if we’re brutally honest with ourselves.

Twenty players wore the Royal Blue through March with nine players featuring in all four games and including a rare and warmly received cameo appearance for Davy Klaassen in the defeat of Brighton.

As to the individual Man of the Match winners, and we saw four different winners in Jordan Pickford, Leighton Baines, Cenk Tosun and Tom Davies.

And so without further ado, let’s name the top three players as designated by the GrandOldTeam forum members who took the time to cast their votes.

In the customary fashion of reverse order, claiming third place for the second successive month is Jordan Pickford.

In second place was the returning after a long injury layoff, Leighton Baines.

But claiming top spot and by some considerable margin with just under 37% of the votes cast, thanks to his haul of four goals, the congratulations and plaudits as GOT Player of the Month for March go to our Turkish Delight…

Cenk Tosun.
