Out on Loan – EFC’s Young Players 14.08.17

Kieran Dowell played most of the EFL Cup match and the second half of the Championship match at the weekend for Nottingham Forest, scoring the winning goal in the second game and earning more plaudits from the Forest fans.

Joe Williams had a tough time in both Barnsley matches this week, giving away a penalty in the EFL Cup and losing a challenge for the Ipswich winner at the weekend.

Antonee Robinson got a cup runout midweek for Bolton, with praise for an ‘outstanding performance’ from his manager, but remained on the bench for the subsequent league match.

Tyias Browning and Brendan Galloway played two complete games for Sunderland this week, with nothing much of note said about them by their official or fan sites (not necessarily a bad thing for defenders). Browning appears to be the more popular EFC loan player in the Northeast.

Matthew Pennington and Leeds United are still awaiting a verdict on how long he might miss with his ankle injury, with Leeds possibly planning to fill his position before the end of the month if it ends up as a lengthy absence.

Henry Onyekuru was brought on as a sub in the last Anderlecht match and was lively if ineffective in a loss to Charleroi.
