Cuco Martina has publicly expressed a desire to move to Everton.
Reports in May claimed Everton were on the verge of signing the right-back, who Koeman signed for Southampton in 2015, as cover given Seamus Coleman’s long recovery from a broken leg and the extra weight of Europa League games that Everton will have to play next season.
However, when asked about Everton’s reported interest, Martina was aware of the reports but claimed he didn’t know anything about it now, but did not hide his desire to move to Everton.
Martina: “Yes, I’ve read (the reports linking him to Everton), but I don’t know anything about it now,” Martina told FoxSportsNL. “Do I want it? Yes, Everton is a very big club. Who doesn’t want that?”
The 27-year-old made 18 appearances for Southampton this season but didn’t figure since January before being released at the end of his contract.
