Tom Cleverley has not broken a bone in his ankle but will miss up to eight weeks of action after he was stretchered off at Tottenham on Saturday evening.
Everton have confirmed that the midfielder has not suffered any serious damage to the bone after Cleverley saw his leg caught underneath Spurs defensive midfield man Eric Dier’s in a crunching tackle at the end of the first half.
The injury may now see Roberto Martinez press ahead with a move for Tottenham wide-man Aaron Lennon before today’s 6pm transfer deadline.
