Everton accepted little Stevie Pienaar when no one else would. After a turbulent spell at Borussia Dortmund, Peanuts came to Goodison and his real talent shone through. However, the interest of Chelsea and Spurs and the prospect of more money eventually drew him to White Hart Lane.

Blues everywhere were disheartened at the loss of the braided South African, but poor performances and fitness meant he made little impact. It was only when he returned to the Toffees that again his ability seemed to come back. There must be something in the water at Finch Farm.

Still not back to his best, but showing dedication and heart, today fans have forgiven him. But perhaps not forgotten…
