New Everton Director of Communications Alan Myers has confirmed that Everton rejected a bid from Man Utd for Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini “out of hand”, describing the offer from the Manchester club as “derisory and insulting”.
The bid is reminiscent of Manchester City´s pursuit of Joleon Lescott – involving similar bids and a similar timing that then Everton boss David Moyes described as “disgusting”.
The hypocritical nature of these bids for two Everton stars is bound to raise the ire of Everton fans, coming so close to the end of the transfer window and solely designed to antagonise the club and unsettle players.
