Everton 3-1 Reading

Goals from Fellaini, Pienaar and Mirallas end Everton´s poor run of form to secure a comfortable 3-1 win over Reading at Goodison Park.

Everton´s charge for a European slot has been severely damaged from a run of one win in the last five.

Everton got off to a disappointing start when stand-in skipper Phil Jagielka was forced off with a severely gashed ankle after just four minutes due to a reckless challenge from Adam Le Fondre.

Reading almost took the lead on 15 minutes, with Le Fondre seeing his first time effort strike the corner of the woodwork after a corner was only half cleared.

But from then on, it was all one-way traffic and the opener finally came on 41 minutes. Fellaini intercepted well, before laying the ball out wide to Coleman who went on to deliver a superb cross to Fellaini to guide a header into the top corner. 1-0.

Steven Pienaar made it 2-0 on 58 minutes with a sublime goal. The South African gained possession deep in midfield before driving towards the Reading goal to unleash a left footed effort from 25 yards.

Pienaar then turned provider as he set up Mirallas, who kept his cool to strike cleanly past Taylor on 66 minutes.

Substitute Robson-Kanu´s unmarked header from Ian Harte´s 83rd-minute cross proved nothing more than a consolation for Reading as Everton ran out comfortable 3-1 winners.
