Paddy’s Preview: Fulham vs Everton

As is often the case last weekend’s Merseyside Derby kicked up some entertaining controversy. Entertaining but thankfully not illegal of physically dangerous.

The disallowed goal in injury-time gave the two halves of Liverpool plenty to debate during the week and though Everton dominated the game for large spells, a draw was far from a poor result.

That draw makes it three in-a-row for David Moyes’ side, which isn’t ideal, but it also stretched the unbeaten run to seven games which is entirely agreeable. A fourth straight draw away to Fulham at 23/10 would extend both sequences and with the Cottagers looking impressive at home so far this season, it wouldn’t be a bad result for the visitors.

Everton, as always, will be going for the win from the start and recent meetings between the two sides favours them doing just that. Everton have won four in-a-row against Fulham. Over the last twelve meetings between the sides Everton has won nine and drawn one. Even at Craven Cottage the Toffees have won twice and drawn once in their last four visits there.

Everton are 13/8 to win and with their last two wins in London having been by a two goal margin, you could take on Everton -1 goal at 4/1 with Paddy Power.

Maintaining the stats line, Marouane Fellaini has scored in his last two starts against Fulham. The big Belgian’s physique can cause problems for Haangeland and Baird at the back for the home side. He is 13/2 to score first and 13/8 to score anytime. If he doesn’t score himself he can set up or create space for others.

Club top goalscorer Nikica Jelavic scored a brace in Everton’s 4-0 win over Fulham at the end of last season. The Croatian is 6/1 to score first and 7/4 to score anytime. You can also back him at 11/1 to score two or more.

A fourth consecutive draw at 23/10 would be a solid result but given Everton’s track record over Fulham, Everton to win at 13/8 is the way to go.
